Going shopping downtown in my small town today. I haven't done that in a long time and I'm kind of excited about it. I don't think I would have done it had it not been for #weaintbuyingit.

"I didn't hear it so it didn't happen."

It's been a huge issue for Democratic candidates for years now. It was one of Hillary Clinton's biggest issues in 2016.

Reminder that the thing you’re fundamentally buying when you subscribe to The Verge is our ethics policy: we don’t do brand deals and pretend they’re reviews and we insist companies (and the White House) be on the record if they want quotes in our stories. Worth it! www.theverge.com/ethics-state...

This was my thought exactly, but I couldn't figure out how to express it. I want people to enjoy holidays with their family and friends however they choose and whatever they choose to eat. But when your life goal is to lie and make innocent people suffer, then anything you put online is fair game.
i don't generally think it's nice to make fun of people's food but when the person in question is a hatemongering fascist i can make an exception

Why is this never news? Why are we letting our government agencies do this sort of thing while the news agencies report on hallucinated trade deals and act like everything is normal

We've actually been under the rule of an oligarchy of 5 for years now. Seems like focusing on scotus and reforming the entire rest of the judicial system to actually function as it's intended would go a long way toward remediating that.
What we need is a new constituent act by the People

Wherein we say, as a matter of pure present-tense sovereign will, "these are to be our governing institutions"

One of my loneliest hobby horses is that a ton of the problems we have in the US right now are all very directly related to the constitution having been ossified via Article V, and unsticking it would resolve a ton of them

What I find interesting is that she's more out front. She and her freak of a husband are badly misreading the room.
How low we have sunk as a country. The US Department of Defense is now run by a rabid war criminal.

Ordering the execution of helpless survivors of an attack is ALWAYS a war crime, whether they civilian or military.

Pure, mindless, barbarism.

Watch red state Republicans. Not that they're going to suddenly develop consciences, but that they're going to see openings to break away from not just the domination of Trump, but of their state governors and political leaders as well. We're even starting to see a few cracks in Arkansas.
A rare moment of a Republican genuinely giving a damn.

In a way, the pardon is why we're here. Ford pardoning Nixon set the tone for how to deal with presidential and executive branch criminality in general. It's crucial that Trump be followed by Democratic president. Right now he's getting more incentive daily to step down and let Vance pardon him.
