labels can be cool and useful for many people, including myself, but I also think it's important to keep in mind that they're all just abstractions at the end of the day

I always find it frustrating when people try to launder radical ideas through a liberal lense to make it sound more palatable to libs. When I say I'm a prison abolitionist, I mean it. The entire concept of prisons and cops are antithetical to justice.

Keep in mind, I'm saying this as a mostly binary trans woman who's been on hrt for nearing 6 years now. I'm deeply uninterested in litigating who's "trans enough" to exist in community with me. If you call yourself queer and fight for queer liberation, you're a member of the queer community.
You can call yourself whatever you want and all that, but "transsexual" will never not be an ick for me. The fact that it's always the most insufferable exclusionist asshats trying to reclaim it certainly doesn't help

Unsurprisingly, electoralism will not grant the left victory no matter how popular it is. In fact, the system in place would be more likely to allow a deeply unpopular socialist than a very popular one with a lot of momentum because the first can be smothered and the second can overcome.
