I saw a random reddit comment where someone theorized that Pennywise and Mary Poppins were the same species of primordial psychic entity, but Pennywise feeds on fear while Poppins feeds on joy. both of them eat kid emotions because fear and joy are more intense in kids. This is Canon for me now.

My theory about Joyce Carol Oates is that all her bad posts are her charging up like Godzilla's spines until she lets loose with a radioactive blast that leaves the world's richest Nazi a pile of ash

I'm sitting in a very country pub deep in Kent following a walk and there's a semi-acoustic singer doings 90s stuff, and we're onto Portishead's Glory Box. 😐

Oil is the most Lovecraftian thing that actually exists.
You're telling me that there's a black ichor under the earth made from the ancient dead, whose burning can realize all the dreams of man, but only at the price of slowly returning the earth to its primordial state?

It's 8:10 on a fresh Sunday morning, and I've already listened to the new Testament album whilst cleaning the flat.
Off for a nice Sunday walk and a pint later on, and maybe a bit of the Palace-Weed match.

A bit of good news: I think you'd all be pleasantly surprised by how resistant the undergrads are becoming to AI. Institutions have lost their minds on this front, but more and more the students themselves are saying "no" to this horribly corrosive technology.

This is why the "comics are just for kids" attitude makes no sense - here are some absolutely beautiful pages that can - and should - be appreciated by adults of all ages.
In case you don't know the why we are all so into the art of Alan Dodier on his Jerome K Jerome Bloche stories.

Re-watched 1987's THE RUNNING MAN in prep for the new one. Feels very much like Hollywood riffing on the Italian dystopian movies of the early 80s, which riffed on Hollywood dystopia and action from the mid-70s. Very much a big-budget B-movie, with a climatic plot device out of Doctor Who.

I made a “how do you do, fellow kids?” joke to someone in their mid 20s who, it turns out, was too young to have heard of that meme.
So “how do you do, fellow kids?” is now an example of “how do you do, fellow kids?”

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

As a person who sometimes has The Bad Thoughts, reading that story about ChatGPT's involvement in somebody ending their life makes me incandescent with rage. A trillion dollars invested in a Mechanical Turk that supplies the razors. May their creators never know a moment's peace.

I see that American capitalists are describing normal people as “radical socialists” again. Weird.
