First brew. I sink into the recliner with the poise & grace of a hippo. Outside a dog's incessant protestations shatter the glass wall of my tinnitus. I steel my creaking bones for a sodden walk to the Deli for a cuppa & company; 53 miles north, people are dreaming of their monthly bacon butty.
