For the eleventieth time, AI mostly just knows words and patterns, and doesn’t comprehend. Create a strategy with words? Ok. Execute that strategy? Not so much.

Read the whole thread and get mad at the media for rolling over.
It’s especially ironic because the lecture is exactly about the ‘paralyzing cowardice’ of today’s elites.

About universities, corporations and media networks bending the knee to authoritarianism. /4

I love reading historical reporting on slogans, mottoes, jingles and theme songs. This dates back to high school football for Ben Johnson, with football origins dating back to late 60s West Virginia, per this Athletic deep dive www.nytimes.com/athletic/681...

ICE has been raiding my neighborhood and surrounding ones for the last couple of weeks now. They commandeered my local church (against the pastor's will) for a staging site and raided supermarkets, parks, Goodwills, bus stops, you name it.

The national media's been silent. So has @mayor.lacity.gov.
Engagement on our updates re: ICE kidnappings/fed siege of Los Angeles is significantly lower on Bluesky compared to Twitter. Do ppl on here not care about LA anymore? Are feeds being taken over by liberal commentators? What's going on?

Community members on the ground can't do it all. We need help.
The feds are escalating in Los Angeles. We've seen record high kidnappings and our communities are under attack. The media focus on LA has died down so electeds don't feel the need to even feign opposition.

People are out here fighting. We need all of us. Join the struggle. Defend your neighbors.

Thanks @backwardsriver.bsky.social for writing this, on 1850s Fugitive Slave Law resistance:

"The [slave-catchers] complained that some in 'the mob came up to us and told us to leave, saying that we, or anybody else, could not take a negro from Chicago.'”

Chicago has always defied kidnappings of our neighbors - Chicago Reader
Even after the passage of the 1850 Fugitive Slave Act, local officials and everyday people resisted the legalized abductions of men, women, and children who had escaped slavery

Propaganda’s a bitch. But apparently it pays pretty well.
Must read from Reuters on how Trump officials are coordinating with right-wing social media influencers.

They know that big scoops build subscribers. So many big news stories are handed to reporters. Now, Trumpers give them to social media posters. It works wonders for their numbers.
In Trump 2.0, MAGA-aligned influencers and media emerge as the new mainstream
