The worst part is that there are some good ideas in that ad! However, it hits this weird uncanny valley that it just can't climb out of. (How many inclined bridges do you find in Amsterdam?)
It's truly wild to me that this just keeps happening. Coca-Cola runs an AI ad and people overwhelmingly react with disgust. They do it again, and people are disgusted again. Now McDonald's makes an AI ad that's so bad that so many people are furious about it they pull it down.

People hate AI slop!
McDonald's Pulls Down AI-Generated Holiday Ad After Deluge of Mockery
McDonald's Netherlands is catching flak for a stupefying AI-generated video, which was roundly condemned on social media.

At this point, whatever. Once he pulls that trigger he will lose the ability to use that power. People should dare him to use it just so he'll shut the fuck up.
unreal (but very real, of course)

I sure as shit wouldn't want my grandmother to spout ads to me if I didn't pay for the higher tier service. It's like multiple Black Mirror episodes hitting all at once.

If a vacancy comes up and Democrats have any sort of power, they should simply refuse to seat any Trump nominees. After McConnell's bullshit, it should be a clear expectation that Democrats shouldn't play ball again.

Part of the allure of libraries as a kid is that you'll find the content that adults think is "inappropriate". Never mind that even before the Internet it was the least efficient way to get smut!

Central Bucks School District is considering removing 60 more books from its libraries
The district will review a total of 65 books for “inappropriate” and “sexualized content.” All of the books show up on a book reporting site used by Moms for Liberty.

What's absolutely absurd is that actual AI can be a huge benefit to architecture in certain ways -- but an AI slop machine that creates plans that make zero sense is worse than garbage, and will never replace a human.

It seems like Democrats desperately want to find ways to make economic neo-liberalism palatable to people that have been shafted by it over and over again.

I'm willing to give some benefit of the doubt that he's playing 3D chess while Smith is eating the checkers, but the Carney government is not really one I feel I can buy into anymore.
Mark Carney managed to trade a pipeline that will never get built for meaningful progress on industrial carbon pricing and electricity interties — both of which will get more wind and solar built.

Remember when people thought he wasn't good at politics? www.nationalobserver.com/2025/11/27/o...

Honestly, Hoekstra is just such a dreadful piece of shit that he's not worth anyone's time. He just shouldn't be invited to things like this where he can shoot his damn fool mouth off.
US Ambassador to Canada: But let me tell you, I go around the country and people will say, “Pete, you just don’t understand why we’re so mad about the 51st state.” And it’s kind of like, “Yeah, you’re right. I don’t.

As bad as Seattle City Council is, I don't think they'd pass a budget this fundamentally irresponsible. (And that's saying something given how they pushed a huge mess forward a year for Mayor-elect Wilson to clean up.)
Vancouver's 2026 draft budget has PASSED.

Approved on a 7-4 vote on party lines, with ABC in favour and councillors Fry/Bligh/Orr/Maloney opposed.

Property tax freeze, $50 million more for VPD, and cuts to Arts, Culture, Planning and Sustainability departments, among others.

Full story to come.

Think I'm done with Democrats. I wouldn't vote for half of the candidates on this list under any circumstances.
New Hampshire - Democratic Presidential Polling:

Buttigieg: 28%
Newsom: 24%
Harris: 6%
Pritzker: 4%
Booker: 4%
Shapiro: 3%
Klobuchar: 2%
Beshear: 2%
Whitmer: 2%

I totally agree. I think if he was eligible to be President (unfortunately he can't since he's a naturalized citizen), people would now believe he'd be the one to beat in '32 or '36.
I think Mamdani did real good yesterday, took no bait, got a message out, triggered a letdown in Trump’s cheering section, got out of there in one piece

What's important to Thiel is that Vance is just an empty suit. He's shockingly nihilist and uninspiring, and the only reason why he was able to build any kind of career was that he capitalized on the suffering of rural America.
JD Vance was hand selected by Jeffrey Epstein's collaborator Peter Thiel, he's a replacement part incase Donald Trump doesn't make it his full term. Not a real politician or serious person, just a stand in for a South African billionaire and an Israeli-Russian pedo network.

They're so utterly reprehensible. But they're just SO absolutely bad at governing, and the wheels are coming off the wagon so quickly that they need to cater to the rabid, totally bonkers part of the base to keep power.
I knew that this day was coming. The UCP had been warning for months that they were going to take away the rights of transgender people (not just children but adults too). I thought I was prepared. But I am still very angry that it has happened.
November 18, 2025 at 10:43 PM
Honestly, fuck these people. The party has been consistently groveling to never-Trumpers regardless of their politics, and it feels like they've resorted to a lot of mealy-mouthed platitudes to justify it. Simply "standing up for the Constitution" doesn't get shit done.
Raskin: We are a big tent. We must be a huge, vast tent. I say this is a party that’s got room for Marjorie Taylor Greene if she wants to come over.
November 17, 2025 at 7:33 PM
What's more frustrating is that the entire political system needs to be massively revamped, and these people are trying to justify the worst parts of a bad system because of some imagined benefit.
