After some madness involving permissions errors at bind mounts, I successfully have a @tangled.org Knot server running on @hackclub.com Nest at SSH port 33939 (it's knot.hackclub.community btw). A @recaptime.dev service for the community if you will.

Generations from now, when historians study this period where we have perfect understanding of the problem, and brilliant, readily available solutions with all the resources necessary to implement them, they'll study cases like this to try to figure out why we kept drilling holes in our lifeboat.

Watching disabled people around the world mourn Alice is a reminder of the good aspect of the internet. 30 years ago, few people outside of SF would ever have known Alice existed. I never would have met her. The internet connected us all. Let’s honor Alice’s memory by using that power and community.
My social media is wall-to-wall love for the incomparable Alice Wong, and I need more words. What captures sadness and/also affection for a community that knows what's been lost?

Seeing people in the repiles mentioning Thatcher and Truss is *checks notes* not necessarily diabolical but also cause a lot of questions if we focus too much on female dictators/authoritarian figures. (that's on @fromthebshq.andreijiroh.dev if I go deeper)

This is one of the great contradictions of AI: just as "science of reading" is taking off and a lesson is/was supposed to have been learned about edutrends that aren't supported by extensive, valid research, schools are jumping on AI, which is untested, unproven, and underregulated.

As someone who's using Gemini as a therapist of sorts (among other things, minus AI art parts), I am taking down notes on the horrors.
Reading this paragraph--written by the editors of Wired, the most well-known tech publication--at BOE meetings in districts rushing AI seems like a good idea.
Ask why they are treating children like guinea pigs while pretending they can predict a future those most knowledgable about tech cannot.
