Minnesota has quickly rejected Pam Bondi's request for the state's voter rolls:

"The answer to AG Bondi's request is no. Her letter is an outrageous attempt to coerce Minnesota into giving the federal government private data on millions of U.S. Citizens in violation of state and federal law."

"Ransom" is exactly right.
"In Minnesota, we will continue to follow the letter of the law, which requires us to protect the private data of our voters.

"It is deeply disturbing that the US AG would make this unlawful request a part of an apparent ransom to pay for our state’s peace & security.*

It is absolutely by design. Theyr’e tired of white people sympathizing with Black and brown folks. That’s why they’re so mad and confused in Minnesota.

All the nice white people yelling at them to get fucked. It’s like their dads are yelling at them in a bathrobe. They can’t cope.
people really like to ignore the "on purpose" part. So easy to talk about how dumb the kids are while ignoring it's by design

If there's one thing I know about racist white people is that they expect all white people to be racist.

So they literally cannot compute why a bunch of white folks would be in the streets when they're not the ones being kidnapped

They went to Minnesota to rendition Somali-Americans because Donald Trump hates Ilhan Omar. That's really the extent of it. And they don't understand why nice white Minnesotans are putting their bodies and lives on the line.

And so those white folks are just a bunch of ni-[CLANG] lovers to them.

Good afternoon from downtown Chicago, where despite heavy snowfall, thousands have gathered for an anti-ICE/CBP demonstration in solidarity with the Twin Cities. More are still streaming in.

Lt. Illinois Gov. Juliana Stratton just addressed the crowd, and called for ICE to be abolished.

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

I really need people who see this to ask themselves what good reform is going to do. Another law on the books? A constitutional amendment?

What does that matter when the people in charge of the agency are hyping them up and telling them to do violence and that they are inherently immune if they do?
We should not fund DHS without serious reform. We could return CBP to border. We could require warrants for immigration arrests. We could beef up training and require identification.

The list of possible reforms is long. What's unacceptable is the current lawless status quo.

I'm not asking for reform because arguing on paper about what ICE has to do is not the fucking point, because--and this is important--they are not following the fucking paper.

I said "abolish" and I did not stutter, because if fascists goons can take over every four years, there is no paper reform.

We are observers, not protestors. We show up to document and film the atrocities ICE is committing. Using 5 year olds as bait. Kidnapping senior citizens. Breaking down doors without warrants. Murdering poets and nurses. Media has all of that information because *observers* were there to document it
