I remember in a grad class at American that I brought up in our readings autocratic trends toward militaristic racketeering and being quickly told that was too libertarian (?) of a position.
There is no difference between this and Tony Soprano saying that something bad will happen to your business if you don’t give him protection money. From him.

Plays right into both sides of the contextual v. motivation debate, almost makes you think the perfect candidate would be someone who can do both!
Texas Dems:

"Who'd be more successful in mobilizing Dem-leaning non-voting Texans to turn out for them?"

Crockett: 53%
Talarico: 34%

"Who'd be more successful in convincing Texans who regularly vote GOP to vote for them?"

Talarico: 58%
Crockett: 29%

Gov. Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, a Republican who supports the death penalty, on Thursday spared the life of a death-row prisoner just before his scheduled execution by lethal injection.

The death-row inmate, Tremane Wood, 46, had already had his last meal. It was only the second time Gov. Kevin Stitt has stepped in to stop an execution.
