Knucklehead guitar guy living in Honolulu
Just the cheesiest.

I hate it.
He’s pushing that “hottest country in the world” bit like some PR hack told him it’s testing off the charts with the youngs.
I can't believe this moment in time is real.

For years, DHS would have employees working before their backgrounds were completed.

I might be misremembering, but in some cases, the employees had already completed FLETC prior to adjudication,
DHS is rushing new hires to their academy without background checks

What could go wrong?

“ICE officials...discovered some of the recruits failed drug testing, have disqualifying criminal backgrounds or don’t meet the physical or academic requirements to serve,”

200 recruits have been dismissed

No one wants to be the reason that this stalls out again.

Except Trump. Better than zero chance he vetoes because of Johnson’s “concerns”.
Hours after Speaker Mike Johnson confidently declared that Senate Republicans would "fix" Thomas Massie's bill requiring release of the Epstein files, the Senate just passed the bill as is by unanimous consent without any changes. A massive, embarrassing debacle for Johnson.

It now goes to Trump...

The most anti-Christian administration I’ve ever seen.
"Agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including ICE, ERO, and CBP intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25."
Exclusive: Trump DHS Plans Immigration Raids on Churches Over Holidays
The Trump Dept. of Homeland Security is briefing federal agencies on plans for immigration enforcement operations inside churches over holidays.

Remember when Obama said that cynicism was the enemy?

Yep.
"The message is not that Trump is innocent, it's that *everyone is guilty.* Everyone assaults women, cheats on their taxes, uses public office for private gain. Propriety and following the rules? That stuff is for suckers. In a world of grift and graft, the most corrupt man should be king."
Why Trump can't make the Epstein scandal go away

Listen, Bovino should be fired ASAP.

Not just for the brutality, but for the macho cringe.
Bovino’s rant fits the authoritarian indicators in our assessment: empowered security forces acting with impunity, militarized immigration raids, executive overreach through federalized enforcement, and loyalty-driven ops unmoored from oversight. His tone isn’t an outlier but a symptom.

I think my favorite thing is that every idea coming out of the admin right now is to buy support from American voters.

Part he doesn’t get, or care about, is that all of it will supercharge inflation.

And yeah, I guess I’m looking at this from the perspective of someone whose insurance paid out tens of thousands of dollars for my cancer surgery and recovery.
Again, it took decades for universality in health care to be kind of achieved, and these guys think they can reform the system with an idea they came up with while on the shitter.
Trump on healthcare: "I've had personal talks with some Democrats about paying large amounts of dollars back to the people. This was my idea ... why don't we just pay this money directly to the people of our country and let them buy their own health insurance?"

My associates who work HSI aren’t particularly happy about being pulled from regular mission to deportation ops.

Really bad for morale.
"Homeland security investigators worked approximately 33 percent fewer hours on child exploitation cases from February through April compared to their average in prior years"

A tragic shift with real consequences - just one horrifying example:

It took several months of work for Ds to create and approve the ACA. And that was after the years spent on the Clinton health care reform.

So we’re supposed to believe that the GOP, in the course of two weeks, has come up with an actual replacement?

Jesus.
Cassidy: "The president is proposing that we take the $26b that would be going to insurance companies if we just do an extension and give it directly to the American people in which 100% of the money is used for them to purchase healthcare on their own terms. That makes them an informed consumer."

I’d say that it’s stalled out a little, but this admin is still trying to grab more and more power.
I'm not saying it's likely, but Trump's power hasn't exactly been on the rise since he came back and a lot can happen with a year to go.

OMG…

The article is an apologia for “pedophile priests”.
Holy shit. They're really doing it. They're doing "actually pedophilia is good now." The debasement of the American Right is complete.

More importantly, it’s a regular reminder that Trump’s taste in music is absolute shit.
between this, Gatsby party, and Les Miz outing, sometimes it seems like Trump doesn't understand the lessons of the artistic classics he loves

Wow.

Now that Rampell is no longer constrained by WaPo house rules, she’s absolutely on fire.

So wait…

Undocumented landscapers and construction workers were taking all of the single family homes?

Also, 30 million?

A healthy media at least asks how all of this works before accepting this as an actual housing policy.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
November 13, 2025 at 10:44 PM
If only we had a healthy media.
Marie Antoinette may not have said “let them eat cake” but Eric Trump definitely said this:
Eric Trump: "You can send $500 million worth of bitcoin on a Sunday night at 11pm while having a glass of wine with your wife for virtually zero fees."

It’s the chaos surrounding immigration that voters are rejecting, whether as a response to the Biden admin, or Trump’s use of the Border Patrol throughout the US.

As long as voters perceive a pendulum swing of extremism and chaos, they’ll vote for the other guy.
This has gotten lost: Abigail Spanberger won big after vowing to RESCIND Glenn Youngkin's executive order directing local cooperation with ICE and voting AGAINST the anti-immigrant Laken Riley Act. Yet she gained bigly with working class.

New piece laying this out:

I’ve mentioned this before, but Brian Stetler commented, when asked about the media’s lack of interest in reporting on Trump’s mental deficiencies during the campaign, that it wouldn’t move his voters away from him.
Perfect example of political media operating under the post-truth standard that (1) distorts the facts until the parties look approximately equal, and (2) holds “do MAGA voters care?” as a higher standard than “is it true?” or “is it important for the public to know about this?”
Wild to watch playbook run cover for this particular Trump scandal
November 13, 2025 at 3:49 PM
This was the only housing plan offered up by the Trump campaign and no one in the media thought it interesting enough to ask for details.
