1. A #flu update:
12 more kids have died, bringing the 2025-26 pediatric death toll to 44 so far. This time last year the total was 27 — & last year went on to be a record year for kids dying from flu. These deaths are reported on a lag; more will come, sadly.
CDC says ~90% weren't vaxed.

2. Context is critical: The US has confirmed more #measles cases so far in 2026 — not a full month in! — than it recorded in all but 4 of the last 30 years. And this comes after 2025, the biggest measles year in 35 years!
There's a vaccine for this. Works really well.

1. Looks like 2026 will be a big year for #measles in the US. The #CDC reports there have already been 416 confirmed cases in 14 jurisdictions; only 3 of those have been imported. 94% of the cases this year were either unvaccinated or with unknown vax status.
This is up 245 cases in a week.

This first probable case of highly pathogenic avian influenza in a dairy cow in Europe raises two points. First, it suggests that virus incursion is possible in the Dutch housing system, which differs from that in the southern U.S., where cows were first infectted. www.science.org/content/arti...
