Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.
"“They specifically asked me if I knew where the Hmong families lived on my street & in the neighborhood.” Lugert-Thom responded, “I don’t know anything about that” & she said they then asked, “Well, what about the Asian families?”"

"“I was a bit shaken & a bit shocked of what I was asked to do.”"
A St. Paul resident says federal officers knocked on her door and asked her to identify Hmong and Asian households in her North End neighborhood last week.

At one point today, there were 283 Minnesota attorneys doing a training on how to file emergency habeas petitions to keep our neighbors from being shipped out of state and held indefinitely.

That would be the second largest law firm in the state. And that training was just put together this week.

One of the stories that makes me the saddest out of this ICE invasion is one out of the Minnesota Star Tribune today about ICE agents eating at a little Mexican restaurant in the small town of Willmar, Minn, —and then, when they were done, arresting some of the workers.

Bro, they are closing schools because teachers need time to make virtual options for non-white students because lawless federal paramilitaries are terrorizing them.
Annnnnddddd St Paul schools are closing next week for 2 days to prepare for virtual learning options.

they did, in fact, take decisive action. in the midst of these hearings congress passed the third enforcement act, called the Ku Klux Klan Act. the grant administration used that authority to virtually eliminate the klan, which did not resurface for another 50 years.
Luckily they took decisive action and the Klan was never a problem after that.

Versions of this photo ran on CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN and in USAToday online. I don't see a single reference to the quote on her fucking podium in any of them.

Dred Scott was 1857. Lincoln was elected in 1860, war started immediately after he took office, he ignored DS as invalid, the slave power was militarily crushed, and the Constitution was amended to explicitly overturn it. You could hardly pick a worse "liberals didn't fight hard enough" example.
The reason SCOTUS ruled against abortion rights is because liberalism made this rollback TENABLE, just like Dred Scott, Lochner, Citizens United, and so many other rulings that constrained our rights.

46% support abolishing ICE
43% oppose abolishing ICE

This is the first time that abolishing ICE has received net positive support

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

I can't describe how bad Minneapolis feels right now. My neighbors are pulling kids out of school. The public schools are offering remote learning until 2/12. We are having conversations in our alleys about how to protect ourselves. It feels like a military occupation with a blockade.
The US Department of Agriculture suspends all federal funding to Minnesota, effective immediately.

Reporter: Senator Chris Murphy has a 3-pronged proposal to try to rein in ICE. He wants DHS to obtain a warrant for interior arrests. He wants Border Patrol to stay at the border. And he says DHS officials must wear identification and stay unmasked during enforcement operations.

AOC: This has now become what we feared most about ICE for a long time—that it would be used as an anti-civilian force with no accountability. At the end of the day, what we saw today was a murder, and murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted.
