My hottest of hot takes that I fervently believe is that the endeavor to replace animal husbandry entirely with cultured meat is a eugenicist project.
Logs on, checks discourse: “Hey let’s make humanity’s protein source something that can become the intellectual property of billionaires”

Some of the worst people on Bluesky: “how about not”

Poasters: “wow, fascists want to do an animal cruelty”

FYI: law and science, political science, and sociology all still have DDRIG programs run outside of the NSF but funded by NSF. The rest of these programs unfortunately do not.

I run the political science DDRIG.
NEW from me - NSF cancels grant scheme for social science research.

Seems the NSF quietly archived ALL calls for DDRIG grants in the SBE directorate. This is a massive blow for PhD students wanting to do cutting-edge social science research. 🏺🧪

if one were to compare the ratios [comments and quoteskeets] against the faves of every post from the atlantic and their writers* –hey, we're just counting the plays here!– one would be forced to conclude that the atlantic is uniquely unpopular among periodicals.

thinking about this for a while and there are a couple of layers to it, but the topline is that journalism also selects for weird freaks because weird freaks are the ones seeking out power and the proximity to power. that's what access journalism is, and that's what lots of outlets want. 1/5
you know, what if they aren't actually a commentary on journalism or the state of media. what if these people are just extremely weird

This is what the Network State is: an engine for coups, to bring countries to their knees to foreign venture capitalists and the puppet states they control.

The Network State means global election interference ushering in a new age of global tech fascism.
