I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I love that the show does this. For so long, we've had the trope of 'the gay best friend' in romance stories. They are usually caricatural, one-dimensional characters, only there to yell, yass girl and stand in the background. The show not only turns that on its head by making the gay characters the romantic leads and the main focus of the story, but it also gives the supporting female characters depth and a crucial role in the plot. They are not romantic rivals or jealous mean girls getting in the way of the main couple's happy ending; they are perceptive and supportive friends who help the guys come to important realizations about their feelings. As someone who consumed a lot of rom-coms with cliché 'best friend' characters, it feels like nature is finally healing.

The Abundance movement often points to environmental groups as the obstacles to building. But who actually files the lawsuits blocking projects? It’s not environmental groups. It’s been lawyered-up HOAs protecting property values all along. Regulation by litigation is the problem.

Book five was not my favorite. It felt like it was going all over the place, and I was genuinely disappointed by how little Asmodean we got. I really wanted to see him teach Rand—actually school him a bit. Even if Rand’s learning mostly happened in the background, I wanted something: moments where we see progress, mistakes, or consequences.
