I'm foolish enough to try & make 2. I jump between if I get stuck, which helps but it's all very slow since I'm a 1 person shop. Hardest part is trying to get anyone to read them since I find social media difficult and time is short. Love comics too much to stop.

Im currently working on a webcomic that is meant to bridge my love for animation and comics. It's story is personal for me as well. Im currently trying to build a buffer of 100+ pages but that was put on hold due to failing health. It's scripted pretty far ahead tho! Just gotta draw.

I am down to the last ten pages of finishing my graphic novel The Unfamiliars, a story about being disappointed in your heroes! I’ve been working on it for a year and a half.

Ladies of the Knight is complete, and in production to be published next July with Oni Press.

It took 8 years to make, and currently the hardest thing is letting the wonderful team at Oni actually help, letting go of what’s been a solo project for so long!

#StarTrek today I learned that table reads were banned because Jonathan Frakes called out one of Maurice Hurley's season 2 scripts on TNG and knowing this explains so much about classic Trek

So very much

If you're in the USA, Blick has the 18-color Kuratake Gansai set on sale for $23 and it's an excellent starter palette! Nice big pans too and gansai paint is a lot more forgiving of cheap/non-watercolor paper.

I’m often asked for freelance UI/UX designer recommendations, but my list is out of date — most folks I used to refer are now full-time or doing other work.

Time to fix that.

If you’re an independent UI/UX designer doing hands-on client work, drop your website/portfolio! DM/email fine too.

As someone who works in the tech industry--absolutely.

They are testing the waters. These are top-down orders. The ONLY way to stop it is a visceral negative reaction. Write articles. Post your rage. Email. Post. @. All those things.

Only you have the power to kill it.
Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.

one struggle of being in a marginalized audience is that sometimes an artist who makes something for us, but we barely have a fingernail's hold on the Entertainment Review Complex

So reviewers criticize the parts that aren't for them, and the work fails because they drown us out

Damn another excellent book imho. If you enjoyed Hild, by the same author, and like sci-fi, Ammonite feels like a mashup of the two
Previous was just what I needed. Now #CurrentlyReading a sci-fi by the author of Hild

Most of my favorites were random finds, both comics & book stores

A way to dodge algorithms is to investigate an aspect of media you like that’s not typically tracked. Like more audiobooks by the same voice actor, discography of bands on a favorite soundtrack, or other creatives in an anthology
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.
