Christ knows my feelings for the country of my birth have taken a knock in recent years but working as I do surrounded by non-anglophones from all over the world I am constantly reminded that people *want* to study there and learn *our* English. Such a competitive advantage, deliberately binned.
This is truly inexplicable. This and the way the BBC has been run into the ground. And this in a country that see itself as a service-driven economy. We have one key advantage over all the competition: we are the home of the world's lingua franca. Use that? No, kill it! Madness.
