I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal."

That's when I realized why Dems are toothless. They have no idea what this is. Frogs boiling in water.

House budget bill effectively kills US clean energy boom
The House budget bill that narrowly passed in an early morning vote on Thursday would effectively put the brakes on a clean energy production boom in the United States spurred by tax credits enacted in 2022.

Revenge of the Sith is kind of funny in a meta sense now because grown adults look at focus group tested slop and are like “this shit is too political, unlike the movies of my childhood where Darth Vader choked his wife then looked at the camera and directly quoted George W. Bush.”

one thing that Democratic politicians should take note of is that the overlap between “great political optics” and “actual morally good stuff” is really big right now

if we replaced the entire Democratic Party with about 40 people who have ever had a real job we would have a better shot at keeping the right wing from destroying the country

The ACA directly benefitted me. I wouldn’t have been insured for most of my 20s without it.

Still grateful for it and many similar Obama-era policies we have taken for granted until now.

Also — @barackobama.bsky.social is now on Bluesky 👀
Figured I’d hop on here today for the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act.

With everything going on right now, it’s easy to feel like regular folks can’t make a difference – but the ACA is a reminder that change is possible when we fight for progress.

Livid. Cannot fathom a world where Republicans, who regularly fly commercial with their families, are not revolting internally over this decision.

Will one of you cowards stand up to this madness before someone you love dies??

Reliance on these talking points informed by polling is the result of not being amongst or even related to any regular people.

They are clueless as to how Americans outside of their own enclaves think, and are too nervous and jittery to take a risk (see how quick they muzzled Walz last year).
Don't worry, everybody. The Dems will leap bravely into action, standing firmly on principle in defense of democracy and rule of law, just as soon as their consultants get back to them with a report on the talking points that tested well with focus groups held last month.

It feels like this is the week that every warning I’ve read about in a theoretical sense for the past 10 years all became a reality at once.

Today on bluesky I learn that it was "propaganda" that the Soviet Union had trouble delivering consumer goods to its citzens and that store shelves there were sometimes empty.

My "gas leaks everywhere" theory of politics is looking more and more unstoppable.

No matter what side you were on in the Philly arena fight, you have to be feeling duped today.

If you supported it - sorry, it’s not happening, & you probably spent social/political capital for that opinion for nothing.

Everyone else: we now know for sure we’re just pawns in a billionaires’ game.

Horrifying. Idk even what to do. Stop using their platforms? We’d lose a valuable info-sharing, community-building and organizing space.

We are really fucked here. Stay vigilant and use those community notes if you’re sticking with FB & Insta.

Said it before but now that it's Jan 6 I'll say it again: The violent attack at the Capitol was done by rich people, the modern landed gentry, the people who could afford to travel and book fancy hotels to plot a violent attack. It wasn't hicks. It was rich people doing crime.
As we reach 1/6/2025 and the expected certification of Trump’s return to power, DOJ prosecutors reveal they are weighing charging 200 more people for their involvement in the 1/6/2021 attack on the Capitol that Trump set on its feet—including 60 felony cases. www.politico.com/news/2025/01...
DOJ: 200 Jan. 6 cases pending as Trump prepares to retake office
It's the first time prosecutors have estimated how many uncharged Jan. 6 cases remain.
