Think about popular depictions of artificial intelligence. Do any of them act with perfect grammar and refusal to tell the user no, while being dumb as shit? No, we have tied fluidity and linguistics and willingness to answer to intelligence directly.

And then LLMs came in and broke everything.

People quoting these AI summaries for fact checks drive me wild. I sussed out a core factual conflation it made between two areas of a technical standard last week. It's good I didn't trust it. Glad I grew up with Wikipedia being drilled as untrustworthy. Wikipedia has issues even when sourced!
I was excited to tell my kids that there's a sequel to Encanto, only to scroll down and learn that Google's AI just completely made this up

Return-to-office mandates at some of the most powerful tech companies — Apple, Microsoft and SpaceX — were followed by a spike in departures among the most senior, tough-to-replace talent, according to a case study published last week.

as I learnt listening into a call today, astronomers who work on Uranus universally pronounce it as 'ur-unus', presumably because they were tired of being the butt of the joke.

this call was about how they're probed Uranus 'deeper than anybody has gone before'

The fight over return-to-office is getting dirty
Bosses pushing return-to-office policies are relying on a few, questionable studies to back up the claim that remote work is less productive.
