If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

The owner of this business is a old, wonderful friend & a former employer of mine, so please, I need all of my Pacific Northwest followers keeping an eye out for this stuff, especially if you run in nerd circles, so that his dream business, built via decades of grinding, can keep running.
KIRO 7 ran an article and two TV pieces on the theft of a box truck full of arcade PCBs, artwork, and machines from my workplace yesterday. If anyone in the Seattle area sees someone offloading a ton of CPS2/NAOMI/Neo Geo PCBs, stuff of that nature, please reach out.

Working on getting back into coding (after two weeks between getting sick and family stuff) and out of NOWHERE my brain locks in and remembers... my geocities web address from the 90s.

And yeah. The wayback machine did archive it. A single iteration of it, but it's there.

PLEASE don't let people get away with using AI as a source. I've seen too many screenshots of Google AI answers instead of links to articles or papers. Context collapse happens so incredibly quickly because people take whatever perspective they're handed instead of using their own.

A good reminder for all the indie game devs out there.

What we do is very difficult. It doesn't always work out the way we might hope. But you created something from nothing and put it out into the world. That matters. You matter.
I don't know who needs to hear this right now, but to any indie devs feeling bad because their game didn't sell or wasn't played as much as you wanted:

You still made a god damn video game. You did it, and that's harder than anything most people will do. I'm proud of you, you did great.

I remain convinced that AI is fundamentally a labor-punishing technology, not a labor-replacing one; the point is to force existing workers to accept lower wages & worse conditions because of the threat of a replacement that’s not practically possible at scale

In Brazil, when a big confusion happens, we say “um barata-voa danado” (something like “a flying-roach situation”). This powerful expression is used to instantly illustrate the primitive chaos that erupts when a cockroach starts flying in enclosed spaces with people. And I think that's beautiful.
