In Australia, "jocks" is slang for underpants, so "Robot Jox" always suggested a kaiju-scale version of The Wrong Trousers.
A lot of people think Robot Wars is a sequel to Robot Jox because some of the same people were involved, but it is its own unrelated story.
Despite not being sequels, I consider Robot Robot Wars and Crash And Burn to form a trilogy with Robot Jox. Robot Jox is the best one but the others are close.

I watched Sisu: Road to Revenge the other night and the protag does this. It's been done and can be done well.
Link should communicate exclusively through grunts and weird yells and Gordon should have no expression at all at any time
Okay, but if Gordon Freeman or Link have very clear-cut characterization through sign-language conversation, that's probably not what Pat wants from a silent protag, unless I missed something wild on the podcast
