I'll be honest, I don't really care about how rhetorical Netflix guy's kid watched "LAWRENCE OF ARABIA;" lots of people in the industry have bad taste and/or viewing habits that don't actually affect their skill or talent. I care if/how it manifests in his approach to the medium as business...

They'll tell themselves "I can do it right. The ideal is good, my parents did it imperfectly but I'm better, we've learned from their mistakes, MY GENERATION will do this the way it was supposed to be done. For US, the painting/postcard/movie/story will be the reality."

What's ironic is, it will often be the ones who DIDN'T have the "ideal" experiences that popular culture told them were supposed to be common and even promised themselves to be different and push back about it who will eventually come to ache for it the most, and seek their version of it.
