You probably haven't heard of Garbanzo Quest by @zachisagardner.bsky.social, but it's an incredible game with a lot to say. Today we dive deep into this classic and emerge with a newfound understanding of what it means to be an independent artist in the first place. www.youtube.com/watch?v=90rk...

As I said earlier, Bugonia rules. The Departed is pure junk food movie for me nowadays. Nostalgia is poison but Toy Story had me welling up about how much I wanted to go to Pizza Planet as a kid. Sherlock Jr still has me flabbergasted that Buster Keaton managed to do all of that OVER A CENTURY AGO

Part of Damo Suzuki's band for two shows in 2007 and 2010.

Finally got around to watching Bugonia. As an Alasdair Gray fanatic that hasn't quite forgiven Yorgos Lanthimos and crew for Poor Things, this felt like a real return to form. Absolute blast!

Every so often I'll revisit an old vid to reflect on where my mind/life was at, what worked, what I'd change if I did it now, etc. An interesting time capsule I suppose.

Revisiting this one in particular, made during lockdown, feels particularly wild. Still think it's a good piece of writing!

It's a shame that Acrobatic Tenement was recorded/mixed so poorly, because it arguably features some of At the Drive-In's best songs.

I am a sucker for the holidays, so Post Games is on sale till Sunday night.

$1 gets you all episodes. Videos. Bonus content. No ads. Everything.

(But for real, after this, I need to stop with the sales, because this is a terrible way to make money!)

Had a chance to go over this script a while back and I am very excited that it's finally out there! Pim is seriously so good at this stuff you guys
🟥!!NEW VIDEO!!🟥

In which I talk about Pablo Picasso, his (deeply misogynistic) view of women as "machines for suffering", and how both relate to the narrative of Silent Hill f.

Gotten a few heartfelt e-mails from developers lately asking me to check out their game, including a key in the e-mail... and then I check the Steam page and find this kind of AI disclosure. Makes me question if the e-mail I thought was heartfelt was even written by the dev. Truly toxic to your game
i take frenzy damage every time i see someone go "well i just use it for the boring stuff". what are you TALKING about? if it's boring or unimportant, why are you putting it in? NPC dialogue is fertile ground for worldbuilding, creating verisimilitude, conveying important information, and hijinks!!
Buy a solo indie dev's game because I want to support them.

Find out it uses OpenAI to write "non-important NPC dialogue".

Hey, to let everyone know: I have been made aware by several people that my Twitter handle has been taken by someone impersonating me. They are soliciting in people's DMs.

I closed my account a year ago. I don't really have control of anything, other than to ask people to report it.

Working with editors early on made me realise that, truly, maybe the biggest problem with YouTube criticism is no one has to work with an editor
repost this if an editor has ever saved you from yourself
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

I get this ALL the time on social media. I think because I’m sometimes self-deprecating on here and because there’s now a lot of chummy chat available on the VGC Podcast, some people think they can joke about my weight, how I raise the kid etc. There’s a line between being friendly and being friends

I can't stop thinking about this game. If you haven't played it, there's so much more to it than you think. You have no idea. Buy it, play it ASAP.

I like Aftermath very much, but I don't agree that games "should" be any given thing - and the assertion that "art these days feels self-aware and too clever by half" is not my general experience with recent art.

Kill Bill still rocks. One Battle After Another remains one of the best films I've seen in years. Antichrist doesn't hold up as well as I thought it might, despite looking incredible. The Duke in Saló really looks distractingly like that Sargon of Akkad guy

This is such a great review that pretty much mirrors my own experience with the game (as someone who was brought in to offer my thoughts on it pre-release). I often find myself frustrated with this uphill battle Jake mentions, but reading this I think "...sometimes I just gotta do it." Real cool.
🚨 MORSELS REVIEW 🚨

Would love to get some eyes on this! I know it’s an uphill battle posting about a game with a small footprint post-launch, but I think it’s worth making space for reviews like this.
