Hard no to this: French publisher Harlequin has told translators that their work will now be done by AI. They can ‘revise’ AI translations at much lower rate. It’s a subsidiary of Harper Collins so treat this as a test for rollout elsewhere

Faites tourner, parce qu'il va falloir se battre encore plus. :/

This article is most useful in highlighting the dismissals of such warnings. Big question is why? Normalcy bias? Not being vulnerable?

Call them the Cassandras: the people—mostly not white and male—who smelled the fascism all over Trump from jump street. Why were they “alarmists,” and how did “anti-alarmism” become cool?

One additional point on politics: Without the very strong push especially from Berlin for the use of the Russian assets, Orbán would most likely not have agreed to this lesser-evil solution from his (and Putin‘s) perspective. The threat was real, and he caved.
So what the hell just happened? Two things: Ukraine will get 90 billion euros. And Orbán did not veto that even though he could have.

How so? Short thread:

"The narrative that Badenoch is trying to spin is nothing more than a comforting fiction that allows men in our own culture to avoid responsibility."

"It is overwhelmingly perpetrated by men who are known to the victim - partners, ex-partners, husbands, boyfriends, colleagues, classmates."
The idea of “imported” violence against women and girls is a deeply comforting fiction - one that allows people to avoid looking at where it actually happens: within our homes and behind closed doors.
The Violence Isn’t Imported. It’s Domestic.
Kemi Badenoch’s attempt to blame violence against women on migrants doesn’t just collapse under scrutiny - it actively distracts us from where the harm really happens, and who is actually responsible.
