Houston really is a perfect example of where decades of strictly car-centric policy will get you, and surprise, it's not only bad for everyone else but it makes drivers even more angry and stressed
Spotted in Houston: two hacked variable message signs. That the signs were placed on the sidewalk, blocking pedestrian access, makes the messages all the more urgent.

Put out to pasture to mill about and admire the railway line? Yes, please.

It's wild that a handful of draft horses were still employed on railways in Britain just two years before the first Shinkansen debuted in Japan.

'Russell also revealed people had come up to him in restaurants in Europe to complain after the sequel came out, to which he would say: "It wasn't me, I didn't do it".'

Guys, leave Capt. Aubrey alone. He isn't culpable for Gladiator II.

I made pasta yesterday. And a couple of days before that, too. I am capable of preparing a basic pasta dish. No, I don't need your help, obtrusive LLM sycophant.

Can you tell that I despise that one commercial?
This entire grift relies on convincing people that they don't know how to do the things they have always known how to do, and ironically, if it works, we will, in a very short amount of time, forget how to do all the things we have always known how to do.

We're just over a week away from the release of season 2 of Fallout. And the dreary winter weather keeps reminding me of the Capital Wasteland. I'd say it's time to begin another playthrough of my favorite Fallout game, Fallout 3.

My lifelong (literally since the age of six) desire to own and wear an 18th century suit has been reignited. When I was in the 2nd grade, I wore an unbuttoned "girls" cardigan basically every day because it reminded me of a 1700s coat. I need to get sewing.

I want to learn more about the American Revolution after watching Ken Burns' new documentary. My ambition is to read 13 books (get it?) about it between Jan 1st and Jul 4th of 2026.

Here's my list. For historians or laypeople, any suggestions or criticisms?

A few thoughts about this video:

This is peak history YouTube. All those youtubers who just paraphrase Wikipedia are shameless.

Historic pics and films held by museums need to be available online in high resolution. Yeah, I'm talking about you, Imperial War Museum.

I recently went to the dentist for my semiannual cleaning and checkup. My dentist insists on playing a YouTube compilation of nature scenes on a giant TV right in front of the chair. It reminded me of the euthanasia scene from Soylent Green. The hygienist had no idea what I was talking about.

A suggestion for your web map: Add the ability to calculate per capita tax values for multiple municipalities on the fly. For example, to determine what the per capita tax taxable value for a city would be if tax haven enclaves totally within its boundaries were included.

Episode 3 of #TheAmericanRevolution was the most compelling so far.

I haven't been this interested in the Revolutionary War since I was, like, seven, when I was absolutely obsessed with Liberty's Kids, also a PBS program. I need to compile a reading list.
