The campaign against “antifa” is about establishing a beachhead for further attacks on speech and assembly rights. We see that today in the effort to preemptively label No Kings protesters as “terrorists.”

“We are the salt of the earth… and never forget - salt always melts ICE.”
-Rev. Otis Moss III

We are in a moment where we must choose faith over fear, justice over injustice, courage over silence.

So proud to stand with all of you who are choosing faith over fear right now.

You can be a Christian who wields the death-dealing power of empire.

But you cannot follow Jesus & do that.

You can be a Christian who thinks that the purpose of salvation is avoiding hell tomorrow instead of destroying hell today.

But you cannot follow Jesus & do that. 5/6

You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you.

James 5:1-6

Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence.

Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.

this is also white nationalist framing straight from the Jim Crow era, as if Joy Reid citizenship is a gift from Vance, whose belonging is of course unquestioned

it’s what @profkori.bsky.social would call “know your place aggression”

Weaponized gratitude is a key tool in the abuser's toolkit. The goal is to convince the victim that they owe the abuser so much, they should feel guilty for wanting to complain.
Tweet from the VP:
Joy Reid has had such a good life in this country. It's been
overwhelmingly kind and gracious to her. She is far wealthier than most.
Yet she oozes with contempt.
My honest, non-trolling advice to Joy Reid is that you'd be a much
happier person if you showed a little gratitude

Folks — this is not a normal government shutdown.

Let me explain the stakes and how we got here.

Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong?

James 2:5–7

Listen, my dear brothers & sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? But you have dishonored the poor.

Talarico: if you read the new testament, Jesus doesn't spend most of his time preaching or teaching or even praying. He spends most of his time healing the sick.

Right now, we have politicians in congress with Christ follower in their Twitter bio, but they are kicking the sick off their health care

That's the definition of fascism from Robert Paxton, one of the preeminent historians of the subject, from his book ANATOMY OF FASCISM which came out more than two decades ago.
georgetakei.bsky.social
Oh yes, this is clearly now.

A post on X by Mehdi Hasan (@mehdirhasan
) expresses frustration, asking how anyone can read a definition of fascism and not be alarmed, emphasizing that it is happening now. The post includes a quote from Cody Johnston (@drmistercody
) from one day ago, defining fascism as a form of political behavior marked by an obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victimhood, and compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity. The definition describes a mass-based party of nationalist militants working with traditional elites, abandoning democratic liberties, and pursuing redemptive violence for internal cleansing and external expansion without ethical or legal restraints.

What we need is the military to refuse to follow the orders of an authoritarian dictator declaring war on his own citizens. Refuse to obey.

It is important to see this sort of straight talking, precisely because of the executive order last week that conflated criticism of the government with terrorism.

Pritzker: "In any other country, if federal agents fired upon journalists & protesters when unprovoked what would we call it? If officials marched down streets harassing civilians & demanding their papers, what would we say? I don't think we'd have trouble calling it what it is: authoritarianism"

If this were discovered in a leaked email and published in the New York Times, it might get more attention. But Trump just tweets it out, and most people move on with their day. This is blatant corruption. Blatant weaponization. It is undeniably an impeachable offense.

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Our problem isn't a lack of resources.

Our problem is ever-expanding inequality.

Just so I'm clear:

TV host says we should kill every homeless person? No big deal

TV host says the right must "go to war" with the left? Pfft.

TV host says the government is cracking down on critics? Well, the government cracks down on him for the criticism.

Free speech, everyone.

A program in Flint, MI, gave $1,500 to any/all pregnant people and $500/month for the first year of their infant’s life.

Among the benefits, those babies experienced lower rates of prematurity and low birth weight, which resulted in fewer NICU admissions, saving the city of Flint $6.2 million/year.
