Everything Republicans (and their cheerleaders in Corporate Media) told US, lectured US, about "free speech" over the last few decades was a lie. They wanted right-wing speech to be privileged over left-wing speech, not free speech. They are literally anti-free-speech.

There are three Truth and Reconciliation commissions the United States needs to undertake before this nation ever has a chance to heal:
1) the original genocide of Native Americans
2) the sabotage of Reconstruction
3) the unwillingness to hold the Republican Party responsible for January 6th
