My oldest kid is trans & I suspect if we had a universal government plan she—and all trans people—would be screwed for at least the next few years. In a lot of ways M4A makes sense & is easier to sell because people mostly like Medicare but there are real risks to centralized govt healthcare

They did not see him as some kind of progressive lion.
They saw the same gruff outsider that the left did, and both extremes projected onto him.

Even if I someday accept the position (I will not) that the best Democrat is still bad ... bad is better than evil. Generically not up to par is better than someone who actively wants you gone.
