"Prince of Darkness" is an excellent movie that blends multiples genres. It's a demonic possession horror, pulp sci-fi and a siege that recalls Carpenters "Assault on Precinct 13". It also has a seam of existential horror as Carpenter makes another brilliant Lovecraftian movie.

I initially thought that the show was almost comically grim but it's sense of hope at the end was hard won and very satisfying. It was nice to see Irish actors like Alison Oliver and Sam Keeley do such good work.

It would make me nostalgic for all the eyeball torture in his horror flicks. Although I did appreciate the mangled dummy that starred in the climax. But the subject matter is heavier and more disturbing, the killer was also "interesting" social commentary.
