I would be very happy if a Digimon game being popular and good forces Pokemon to try a bit harder, but I doubt it. They're still distinct enough that I suspect Pokemon can coast on unique brand identity.

Onix only drinks from heavily mineralized streams that run deep underground. Soft water is so unpleasant to it that it never emerges above ground except in the driest of deserts, for fear of being rained upon.

I'm one of the few autists who loves airports and doesn't even mind flying that much, so all of this was pretty fascinating.
A life update: this wound up paying off. I'm still applying to several jobs that are hopefully careers, but I've got my survival needs covered by a job at the airport that I'm apparently pretty good at.
And instead of being in an office alone, which was driving me mad, I see 20k people a day.

The VHS series is very up and down in quality, including within entries, but the best absolutely can hang with any of the classics. I think the first two, then '94 and '99, are BETTER than some of the highly-rated classics of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. I love Trick 'r Treat but I think it's beat out.
