I don’t want to be pollyannish about the past, but it was basically inconceivable twenty years ago that a president would say this publicly
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

I will never understand why we don’t just slap these people with dildos for talking like this. What the fuck are you talking about. “He’s got a dick a mile long and I’ve sucked every inch of it” No he doesn’t. No you didn’t. shut the fuck up
Sen. Roger Marshall on Trump's health: "I'll work 110 hours a week. He outworks me. He's the first person I've ever known that works harder than I do. He runs around that golf course. He's in incredible shape right now. And you talk about sharp! He's playing 4 dimensional chess"

Let me get this straight: we trained this guy to be an elite killer, abandoned his country to the Taliban, isolated him, arbitrarily banned him from working and so left his family unsupported.

I don’t know if there’s any more efficient way of producing a mental health crisis outside of torture.

At some point we’re going to shift from the jubilance of watching the GOP going down in flames to actually surveying the wreckage of this period and all I can say is that we better be fucking sure we’re putting reconstructionists with vision and nerve in DC by the time we get there
And this is before people are really feeling the effects of the ACA subsidy cut.
Looks like TN-07 will end up around R+8, or a 13-point shift toward the Democrats from 2024.

What should worry Rs is that this one is hard to dismiss as a special election. It ended up nationalized, and turnout will be ~95% of 2022. It looked like a midterm general electorate.

Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

ICE won’t tell anyone where 6-year-old Yuanxin is. He was separated from his dad at a mandatory check-in. The cruelty is unfathomable & makes us all unsafe. We must fight for freedom from fear & tyranny. We must abolish ICE & reunite all families separated by ICE.

Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

We need better language to describe, isolate, and shame people who publicly air these kind of violent masturbatory fantasies, because they only serve to coordinate heinous crimes against humanity
Megyn Kelly on alleged war crimes: "I really do kind of not only wanna see them killed in the water, whether they're on the boat or in the water, but I'd really like to see them suffer. I would like Trump and Hegseth to make it last a long time so they lose a limb and bleed out."

like, the power usage for this is like ... idk, using a Playstation 5 for ten minutes, which is pretty bad, but there are _single farms_ which use more water than _all AI combined._

You people have got to stop saying this kind of thing. I’m sorry that 15 years ago a CS professor said something obnoxious in a faculty meeting but the idea that humanities degrees are “not tied to capitalism” while STEM degrees are is some of the purest bullshit I’ve ever seen in my life.

One of my musts for any next president is the full prosecution for war crimes for any armed servicemember that follows illegal orders to participate in extrajudicial murder.

Fired. If not fired, impeached and removed. Either way, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Pete Hegseth is a war criminal and should be fired immediately.

thinking of that quote from gustavo petro about how columbia first has to do functioning capitalism before it can do socialism
Honestly it's funny that he is *quite literally* saying "deregulate and reduce the burden of taxation on business to create jobs" and nobody on the left will criticise him. Good.
Soon small businesses won’t have to wait for Small Business Saturday to get attention from their Mayor.

Some changes that they can look forward to:

If Trump pardons him then the next administration should extradite him to the country whose citizens he has murdered. Let them them put him on trial, convict, and sentence him to whatever they believe is fair for the execution of their people.

If impeachment couldn't work against a defeated, out-of-power insurrectionary who put Congresspeople's lives in danger, there's no reason to think it would ever work. The Constitution thus lacks any functional way to get rid of a bad chief executive & so isn't even a minimally adequate plan of govt.

Some of us were saying during the shutdown that Democrats should have at least made the demand that Trump fire Vought to reopen the government since he's doing impoundment

Think of how to force the firing of Miller, Vought, Bondi, Hegseth, Noem, RFK & finding leverage to make it costly to keep them

With all due respect, this is EXACTLY the wrong question. "How do we get through the next 3 years" implicitly takes out of consideration the idea that this gang could be removed from power before the term ends.

We should be asking *how* to remove them or pressure them to throw the worst ones out.
Exactly.

The question is how the hell we get through the next 3 years when the regime is hellbent on ethnic cleansing, electoral malfeasance, and selling the country out to whoever will enrich Trump and his cronies.
Team Trump justifies his endless parade of lawless actions as what Americans voted for but it clearly is not. He’s minus 25 and people hate everything he’s doing. There’s no support for any of this, let alone in the illegal manner it’s being imposed.

The US federal government is openly warring against its own nonwhite population in a way no one alive has ever experienced. It’s not even getting to hide it. The overt bigotry is comparable to Jim Crow. And our pathetic, cowed, putrid political class just keeps pretending it isn’t even happening.
