There was record-breaking voter turnout in most of the swing states, for both parties. The massively depressed turnout in the national numbers was in solidly blue and red states, because there's no point ditching work for that.

Throughout my life I have known people who desperately wanted to create, to travel, to risk, and to experience new things, but were held back by a complete inability to afford it no matter how hard they worked.

The system as it stands is an abomination. Evil and twisted.

Years ago in a group chat I'm thankfully no longer part of, I linked an article covering Greta's latest speech. One of the other members said "I hate her and everything she says."
I asked what he didn't like about the speech.

It's also why their answer for everything is filing lawsuits or "the courts will handle it". They're in the wrong branch of government.

We need labor and supply chain representation with direct incentives to make cost of living cheaper vs. Republicans profiting off making it more expensive.

Dems win by signaling a better future and standing up to big business. They struggle with this because lawyers and clerks are immersed in the system and avoiding controversy. It's why they obsess over procedure and "protect our democracy" "preserve our institutions" "my opponent is uncivil".

It fits the electoral map: Most red states are carbon economies dominated by fossil fuels, farming, and land value extraction. Blue states are generally service economies: government, health, education, financial. Battlegrounds are caught between those two economic realities, esp. the rust belt.

If you sort the composition of congress by profession (either a snapshot or over time, it's similar either way) the common theme is that Republicans are businessmen, big agriculture reps, and real estate/insurance goons. Dems are lawyers, legal clerks, civil servants, and education admins.

1. expand the media ecosystem that can support them
2. get candidates from occupations that people like and trust, like nurses, teachers, engineers, veterans etc. instead of lawyers and bureaucrats
3. avoid political consultants and AIPAC handlers like the plague
