Apple's model has always been appalling and the way it's been a leader in the infestation of all digital products equally so. Truly hate the idea of a computer as a box on which you "access services" that you don't own and have no real agency over. As long as companies can pull out the rug they will

a lovely snippet from our latest episode which shows the importance of developers sharing their creative process.

Without @obsidianent.bsky.social showing their work via devlogs, we may never have gotten the beautiful isometric world of Disco Elysium.

Jeremy is very right about the whole N64/PS1/Saturn era of consoles feeling compromised. Each machine had big flaws that made my brain (and eyes) itch in uncomfortable ways.

I know there's a lot of retro gaming purists that want to replicate those flaws perfectly, but I wanted the hardware *fixed*.
My recent efforts to write an Analogue 3D review were derailed by the realization that the system's finer points require a better grasp of technology than I feel comfortable pretending to possess. The script gradually evolved into a LONG-overdue Nintendo 64 system retrospective: youtu.be/D5kJUofVGSA

game industry has such a bad organizing problem when it comes to events and its because its very for-profit driven and not to celebrate the art of games

Valve has now rejected my complaint, confirming that "I don't like muslims" is a valid reason to leave a negative review on a game on Steam

This is where we're at now.

God and then link rot. Man the days of the internet being a tool are so over lmfao just about every useful resource is either straight up gone, or else obfuscated by 50 layers of SEO, cookies, region-locking, AI, botting, DRM, or mandatory accounts with their own limitations and restrictions

so many of the small indignities of daily life come from us being denied the ability to tell a rich man in a tech company to fuck off. minesweeper has microtransactions. paid services have ads. the opt out says maybe later. the drive thru is a broken chatbot. your car is an ipad. fuck off! fuck off!

It says a lot that AI “artists” are so creatively bankrupt they think writing prompts is a difficult, arduous task.

You realize coming up with a prompt is what a real artist would call “having an idea,” right?

It took them weeks of sleepless nights to have some basic thoughts.
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

sorry to be a hater but I'm annoyed by this article. the author dismisses options for being too expensive, or too inconvenient for his family, and so his ethical journey leads him from Spotify to Apple
