I don't care if you think that AI can do some really nifty things. It's being rammed down our throats by obscenely wealthy men who are also, obviously, both dangerously right-wing and mentally unstable, and no rational society should be allowing that to happen. End of discussion.

Any word from Jeannie Noble on her colleague? Or Monica Gandhi? I get that these folks are allergic to self-reflection but this was always the end game for their let's kill more kids and school staff goals
Vinay Prasad of the FDA claims that he has proof that 10 children died from COVID19 vaccines, so the FDA will now target flu shots, look at whether people should receive multiple vaccines at the same time, and make the vaccine approval process significantly more difficult.
FDA to impose strict new vaccine requirements, claiming child covid shot deaths
Vinay Prasad, the nation’s top vaccine regulator, said his team concluded that coronavirus shots were linked to children’s deaths, necessitating a new approach.

My hot Thanksgiving take is that it's actually pretty easy to pull the whole thing off deliciously if you have two ovens and if you don't, it's a lot of timing and planning and likely to turn out mid anyway
the “thanksgiving food is bad” discourse raises its ugly head every year, but the truth remains that thanksgiving food can be amazing as long as you know how to cook. the problem is we’re throwing a few million sunday drivers directly into a grand prix
I think this is unfair to turkey. turkey is good but hard to cook well because it is so damn big. turkey *parts* are great but lack the esthetic appeal of a centerpiece bird.

I am blocked by John Arnold on every platform because I remind folks he's an ex-Enron trader. In performance reviews of his subordinates he praised them for "using the Enron bat" to beat the markets. He lost Enron an untold amount of money and personally helped sink their last bailout attempt.
groundbreaking.

I'm on my fourth attempt to find a pharmacy to fill my stimulant medication prescription, a task I almoat certainly will give up on entirely if I run out before finding a pharmacy with some in stock because ADHD
November 25, 2025 at 3:57 PM
In re the too many kids have ADHD, teachers are to blame article: yes, it's bad and so is the Common Core. We don't have to defend bad standards developed by people who hate childhood, we just don't.

Yet again terrorized by a fucking Waymo, because pedestrians in the intersection don't stop them from making rights on red. Look, Google has decided a few lives are just the cost of doing business and woe betide the pedestrian who thinks they're safe

Things that will get you kicked out of academia forever:
- taking maternity leave at the wrong time
- spending too much time with your kids
- reporting harassment
- not moving every 2-3 years
- taking a partner's job/preferences into account
- mouthing off before tenure
A guy makes ONE tiny mistake (has a years-long friendship with the world's worst sex trafficker; brags about sexually harassing colleagues; is racist; says women are stupid) and his whole LIFE is blown up (does slightly fewer speaking engagements; keeps teaching at #1 university)??!?!?!?!?!
So Harvard is keeping this guy, but Claudine Gay had to step down over ginned up plagiarism accusations and bad-faith accusations of anti-Semitism.

Got it.

Larry Summers tells @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social
he’s stepping back from all public commitments in light of his messages with Epstein, saying he is “deeply ashamed” and hopes “to rebuild trust and repair relationships.”

He will continue teaching.

I think the belief by the powerful that "people will put up with many things if you are excellent at math" is incredibly revealing in terms of understanding How We Got Here

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

As an actual K teacher I call bullshit on this whole story although for the sake of the PK teacher I hope that they never have to do a parent teacher conference with this terrible, self-satisfied parent

So the district is spending another 5 million "modernizing" the fourth floor of the as yet unfinished, over $100 million Mission Bay school, if you're wondering if maybe their claimed budget woes are less fact and more unwillingness to bargain

So a thing Waymo does that human drivers don't is harrass Kindergartners crossing at a marked crosswalk. Like, this happens all the time. Waymos creep up and have to be physically blocked from hitting kids. They can't handle the idea of walking field trips.

If SFUSD is too broke to offer teachers a break-even salary offer then maybe they are also too broke to have added five new senior staff making over 250k annually and receiving special benefits and retirement packages for 🤷‍♀️
