"the union is a third party, let's resolve our issues directly" is a common management anti-union talking point, but I think pro-union folks also too often think of "the union" as a separate entity that can solve their problems for them, instead of a vehicle for members to create change themselves.
I think we need to change the way we talk about SAG-AFTRA. Not a dig at Jeff here (I too would like to see a SAG-AFTRA Amazon Agreement,) but we've got to stop referring to SAG-AFTRA as an organization that can just "step in" and do stuff.
I just wanna see SAG-AFTRA step in & establish a dubbing agreement with Amazon much like the Netflix agreement. That would be the best path forward.

I'm part of the problem, because I play New Vegas Radio in Fallout: NV... but the game has its own soundtrack, tailored for the game and setting. But nobody ever hears it because we're listening to Johnny Guitar over and over. That natural OST is deliberate!

Also: whether the ambient track that *does* play is good or not is one thing--but I *do* think it's worth interrogating whether the eerie soundscape is... idk, trying to convey something about the Lamorn and the state of the planet? Like through subtext.

The past week has sort of underscored that games discourse is, at this point, really discourse about games as product rather than games as creative works. "Is this Amiibo fair to consumers" and "Should this game be banned from store shelves" are not questions that directly engage w/ their subjects.

This is a decision that can only happen when the people who founded the company lost sight of the reason they established this tier / how they themselves started. The whole reason that simulcasting+free ad-supported tiers were innovated in the first place was to deter people from pirating the shows!
