One of the reasons i love tolkien is the theme that despair is an enemy

and it makes clear you don’t need to have constant hope, you can get by with grim determination or spite but never despair
You can be as terrified or nonplussed or unperturbed as you like; the sun will still rise tomorrow & the rent will still be due on the 31st. The world has no romantic narratives for its fate except those we invent, because the world does not die. That is our privilege.
I said it elsewhere, but it’s weirdly exhilarating and addictive to be terrified all the time, and the people addicted to it, when they say this, may as well be saying “I can stop at any time, it’s just the world doing this *to* me.”

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

1. Reform political systems to make them democratic; aligned with issue-based representation.

2. Expand climate awareness in everyday life; integrate it deeply into public dialogue & cultural norms.

3. Elect mayors who present concrete visions & actionable plans for climate & community resilience.
A huge 89% majority of global people [56% even in the United States] want stronger action to fight the #ClimateCrisis, but mistakenly believe they’re in a minority.

People want action. Smart cities are taking action. Nations should support city action.

Making concerned people aware their views are far from alone could unlock the change so urgently needed

If you’re a journalist who’s still on Twitter, from now on in your writing you have to replace “the American people want” with “troll bots in Eastern Europe demand”

Being there makes your judgment suspect. I don’t care how savvy you think you are, you’re marinating in a disinformation campaign.

As nations KEEP FAILING on #ClimateAction, cities must DOUBLE their efforts & actions on #ClimateChange mitigation though the SIGNIFICANT power of land-use and transportation decisions, which are within the power of cities and are TRANSFORMATIVE in addressing the #ClimateCrisis.

Hard for me to say how this is different from Fox News's entire business model, except that it's less sophisticated. This is transparently and obviously bad — and Elon should ban these accounts — but the spirit here of trading rage for money is pretty much a lot of right-wing media.
