BLUE MOON is written as a play- a single night in the life of a talented, sad, tortured writer who doesn't know he is going from celebrated talent to footnote in history. It is some of Ethan's best work EVER, and Rick Linklater's best movie in years (and I *LOVE* all his recent work.) F'N BRILLIANT.

“I have a hardcover copy of the book Bram Stoker’s Dracula” is a much more ambiguous sentence than it sounds.

This is the exact difference and it's made sharper by them using the same leading man looking essentially the same in both
Look at the difference between Tarantino's and PTA's oldest and newest scripts, and you easily see that the second guy has actually lived a life and thought about the world during the past 30 years.

I'm thinking about doing something insane: Typing up and posting a script I wrote when I was 14-15 and posting it online. Like this is not something anyone should see. But I think it might be fun. It's something I actually like and aside from format needs very little work

The exact moment I fell out of love with Kill Bill was watching vol. 2 next to The Long Kiss Goodnight. It was seeing a cheap copy next to a real item and it actually annoyed me. Shane Black meant that script and Tarantino didn’t at all.

Final result of the day was I wrote some of my best work ever. I bought three Dredd books. I ate my favorite food. I got my hands on a semi-short film (40 minute) and an actual short (18 minutes) from an actor/singer I love. I tried.
It’s 10 AM. I’ve cried twice. I’m stuck in my house due to lack of funds. Horror is on due to my wife being on a marathon. The last book I read made me angry. You may want to just unfollow me today. I am NOT OKAY!!!

Right now I safely know I landed this script. Like I won’t finish for a day or so but the script I started building 3 years ago is this. What’s crazy though is due to my unique plans I actually will have a second script to write after that’s much more complex but already outlined in this script.

In case you thought you hadn’t heard Golden enough, my 2 year old just gave me her version

I have a deep love for The Babadook despite hating essentially every other film like it
What is a movie that you love that would surprise most people who know you?

We do not discuss Michael Crichton the director the way we do the author but I thought his films were awesome.

This is key to any tie in. If it isn’t in the main work it can’t count.
a point I wish I’d hammered more succinctly in the initial review: The First Shadow was screwed from its inception by the implicit condition that nothing that happens in the play can have any real effect on the main Stranger Things story. It was designed to be a nothing.
Stranger Things fans complaining they don’t have access to the Broadway play should be thankful they don’t get what they wish for

Btw he wasn’t credited but he heavily rewrote Last Crusade to the point all of the dialogue was essentially his. Which once you know…
Tom Stoppard. One of the great writers. An epic wordsmith whose craft was such that one only compares themselves to him aspirationally. ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD. SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE. BRAZIL. EMPIRE OF THE SUN. BILLY BATHGATE. ANNA KARENINA. Stage, screen, print. A genius. Rest in peace.
Goodbye to the master.

Tom Stoppard was a rarity among rarities. Writers you know are likely in mourning

At least I came up with a way to work Capgras’ Delusion into a romantic scene including actual treatment of it. I mean that’s a win?

NGL, having the new Poirot novel be such a bust really stung more than I expected. I really wanted a good book because I'm so on edge and it really hurts when something you trust abandons you.

This is a code red. I’m non functional due to anxiety and I just need to hear a voice in the dark to give me hope

The new Sophie Hannah Poirot novel has a brilliant setup but the second the murder hits you realize these are the worst characters possible for a pastiche. Coming after an absolutely perfect last book, Hannah has zero style at all and with an interminable length this turned into a punishing read.

I love that he went from the novelty of an All That cast member joining SNL to the definitive cast member. He truly is the king of the show.
Longest tenured SNL cast member, All-Time!
