I've moved here from X, where I had the same username and liked to discuss books, movies, ephemera, 1970s nostalgia, folklore, folk horror and, when their bullpen wasn't melting down, the Phillies. Hope to eventually find all those great people from X here.
One of my favorite films
Ermanno Olmi (with scenes from his film "Il Posto") - BOTD
Honestly, Aidan Miller if LEFT field would be huge.
Gimme Miller in left, Crawford in center and a Marsh/Refsnyder platoon in RF.
Yeah, I have a spidey sense Strahm would.
Counterpoint: Availability of more pizza crusts for me.

Updated No Kings coverage from Lancaster, PA, where turnout was at least 4,000. ... Said one attendee: "We're (protesting) because we're American and because we believe in the ideals that this country was founded upon, and we think that our country can do better" lancasteronline.com/news/local/t...
Thousands fill streets of downtown Lancaster for second 'No Kings' rally [update]
For Olivia Rissling and Shannon O’Donnell, President Donald Trump’s slashing of federal funds for medical research and higher education institutions hit them personally.

The other thing that could happen is that Luzardo could be talked into signing a lower extension (still 9 figures) for the long-term security. Obviously if he gets hurt next year, no $175M. So Phillies could/should be holding parallel Suarez/Luzardo talks while they can.
If the Phillies are going to let Ranger Suarez walk, they had better be FULLY committed to giving Luzardo $175M next winter, which he could easily get if he repeats his 2025 numbers.

In other words, maybe keeping Suarez makes more sense.
2026: Wheeler, Sanchez, Luzardo, Suarez, Nola, Walker (last year), Painter

2027: Wheeler (last year), Sanchez, Suarez, Nola, Painter
The things we don't know are: 1. What the Phillies know about Wheeler, 2. the Phillies' assessment of Painter, 3. how any Luzardo talks are going. ... Luzardo might be FAR more expensive next winter than Suarez this winter, so do you hedge your bet and sign Suarez instead of risk losing both.
I want to b*tch about off days too (I *really* hated the one after Game 1 of NLDS), but ultimately this is a testament to great starting pitching, which the Phillies have, too. .... I'd love the Phillies to win a postseason best-of-seven with 8 pitchers, too, and I think it's absolutely possible.
Really makes me want Suarez back, though.
I know they should have Wheeler.
But I would LOVE a best-of-seven with LA where we get to throw Sanchez-Wheeler-Luzardo-Suarez in the first four games and then do doubling-up in 6 and 7 if necessary
Add wind and/or rain, and cats.

At the end of the day, don’t we all just want to enjoy chocolate croissants and read Edgar Allan Poe by the fireplace in an ominous Victorian mansion during a full moon on a cool October night?
I have no idea whether Harper's demeanor is tied to being worn out by playing in the majors since 19, injuries, being a father of 4 kids, frustration of guys around him not hitting, money or some combination of the above. He's 33 and has a 6/153 contract remaining. Should he get more?
And I don't 100% trust the system to produce young guys that Topper should be playing. Two truths: 1. Phillies can win the 2026 World Series, 2. They might have to do it without meaningful contributions from Crawford and Painter. (Miller needs another year). Is Kemp a young guy who should play more?
"Do this" meaning he can have a Schwarber Game and a Sanchez Game at the same time. Terrifying.
I think the AL champ will bust out and get to the LA pitching in one game, like the Phillies did in Game 3. But otherwise it's probably a swift Dodgers in 5.
Great ballclub. But in an extraordinary moment where you need to find the right extra piece(s) if you want to beat a healthy Dodgers team in October. The Phillies played very well against them, but that's not the same as forcing LA to find an extra gear. They've hardly broken a sweat this month

GHOST CASTLE (1985): UK variant of 1970's Which Witch?, later Haunted House. Beautifully tactile 3D horror board game with gorgeous artwork and components. The steel ball from Haunted House is replaced by a glow-in-the-dark skull. Nice.

I like to read writing by humans because humans die. A writer used part of her life to write and I’m using part of mine to read it. The finitude is key to it being an art.
Yes, but what about Justin Lin's "Tokyo Story"?
