It's definitely based on the mythology of the Mariel boatlift, like Scarface was, because Trump's model of the world is frozen on stuff he saw on TV before he turned 50
I just realized that Trump rants and raves about prisoners being let into the USA because he's a racist but also because that's the opening of Scarface. He's proposing racist policy because he's a racist who thinks Scarface and Silence of the Lambs are factual!
It just seemed like news that Trump was raving in Nassau County about driving out people who came from "the Congo....Africa..the Middle East...Asia," and then it seemed even more like news that none of the coverage mentioned it defector.com/where-racism...

Increasing labor power for the lowest cohort of workers and narrowing income inequality is exactly why our elites hate the current economy and run stories about how bad it is. They want to return us to the early 2010s when high unemployment meant workers had no bargaining power.
The bottom 10% once again saw incredible real income gains in 2023: 6.8% YoY. The next 10% was almost as strong, 5.8%. Higher income brackets also saw real growth but by less than the bottom 20%. As a result, the ratio between real income of the top 10% and bottom 10% fell back to lowest since 2015.
