But all that proved to be true. The project was in trouble. The trailer they released was basically smoke & mirrors, then it was canceled. Kinda softenes the blow by knowing something was up.

But it's also just noise. If the game comes, looks great & delivers then none of the fud matters.

And the magazines did the same back then. Sure we don't need to know random issues that happen during the development cycle but if MS won't update us on a game for 5 years then you can't stop people from looking for answers. They need to do better then they won't have a problem.

They actively don't want you to know their inner workings for nefarious reasons. This is the same reason why we can't trust the government to give us news.

The problem is also the media literacy of the public & I'm sorry but I don't care about their stupidity. These people need to learn to go to the source & parse the information with their own brain.

Jez is very cognizant of it. He preface these kinds of things all the time on his podcast. It's the bad faith actors on social media & influencers on YouTube reacting to these things doing the damage.

But you don't hear this for PS or Nintendo because there's no smoke there. 🤷‍♂️

He's also the guy who got statements to debunk the Xbox getting out of hardware and Xbox not in Target / Walmart misinformation. He's a net positive for the Xbox community.

I don't see this issue on this one, it's a good thing if he's right, & honestly MS needs to do this kind of thing.

Jez has good sources, doesn't mean everything he hears comes to fruition though. Just be aware that when he says stuff on the podcast or in Discord he doesn't have as strong info on it. He's said it before, the stuff he writes on Windows Central is the stuff he has tangible confirmation for.

Ha ha. I'm so glad your ocd is saved some money. I played We Love Katamari Reroll on Switch & the asymmetrical sticks were just as fun. 😅

But I don't want the Switch version here because it's noticeably worse looking from the trailers available. I wish there was a Switch 2 version.

Well, Microsoft doesn't release much data so it's not something we can definitively say but it's clear sales & player numbers were low. Steam numbers are abysmal, they don't chart on Circana engagement or sales numbers, & they don't chart on the Xbox store. There's no metrics out there for success.

Which is great but I don't think any of them are financially successful. I used to think Game Pass would subsidize these kinds of projects but that doesn't seem true now. Hi-Fi Rush was more successful than these yet they let them go. I'd be worried if I were these developers.

While that does make sense it's definitely about a return on the investment. Global marketing campaigns are very expensive. I think that for many games those numbers don't add up.
