I just realized people essentially have the same beef with these two.

Two people who despite them being in a ruling class above many, were neglected & abused to the point where they essentially don't see how much weight their decisions carry because they don't think their life matters.

Not knowing how much they meant to other people would end costing both of them dearly.

While Rose's story has ended though, I can't wait to see what will happen with Stolas as he's now been stripped of his power & put on the same level with Blitzø, as well as how he makes it up to Octavia.

Because of how they view themselves, they both end up making huge mistakes that end up hurting a lot of the people around them.

Rose never realized how much she meant to other people until it was too late.

Stolas didn't realize how much of his decisions could affect others like Blitzø & Octavia.

For Stolas, it's a story of comphet. He is a gay man who was put in an arranged marriage as a child. Like many real life gay men, was forced to stay in the closet & go through the motions of what is expected of men in society, including having children. In his case, VERY MUCH against his will.

For Pink/Rose we essentially learn her backstory backwards, starting at the end of her story, as Rose, making our way back to the beginning, as Pink. The runt of the litter who was both figuratively & literally looked down on by the other diamonds + walked away from royalty to save Earth!

Many people essentially treat these two like Ariel from The Little Mermaid in thinking they essentially threw away a fulfilling life & hurt a lot of people for selfish reasons, but just like with Ariel this is a critique that misses one key point.
