I went to our local Wiccan store for Krampusnacht & I had my photo taken with Krampus! I gave the store's owner some Wiccan lavender soaps I made as a gift. Brought an orange for Krampus so he wouldn't chase me. LOL Happy Krampusnacht!

#WeeknightWriters I'm Trish Wilson, Media Director for The Horror Zine. I finished my NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD interview so my writing job is finished. I'm celebrating for the rest of the year. Now, to find new horror stories to write for 2026.
Hello #WeeknightWriters! Come on in, introduce yourself and your WIP, and let us know how your #FirstDraftFall project is going!
December 5, 2025 at 4:07 AM
#WeeknightWriters A5: Lots of holiday stuff. Krampusnacht tomorrow at a Wiccan shop with pictures taken with the rebuttal to Santa Claus. I can't wait to show off THAT picture! LOL Santa and Mrs. Claus show up in a week. Christmas at a castle and Santa arrives in town on a lobster boat! Great fun. 🎅
Q6: Do you have anything exciting going on outside of #FirstDraftFall - recent or upcoming publications, other exciting projects, etc? Share it here & be sure to post links if you have them!
December 5, 2025 at 4:05 AM
#WeeknightWriters A5: Just be here for support and chatting fun like you are every week. I need to come up with horror fiction projects for 2026. This chat is one way I can do that. I appreciate it here. It's one of four BlueSky writers chats I attend.
Q5: What can we in the #WeeknightWriters community do to make the next week of #FirstDraftFall easier for you?
December 5, 2025 at 4:03 AM
#WeeknightWriters A4: Stay away from the computer. I just had trigger finger injections & they hurt a bit. Taking a break is good. I'm going to a Krampusnacht party and seeing Santa arrive in the harbor on a lobster boat! Santa on a lobster boat is the most New England thing I've ever seen. LOL
Q4: What can you do in the next three days to make the next week of #FirstDraftFall easier for yourself? #WeeknightWriters
December 5, 2025 at 4:01 AM
#WeeknightWriters A3: Loved chatting with John Russo, who co-wrote NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD with George Romero. I interviewed him, co-writer/director Ani Kyd Wolf & actor Casper Van Dien for the same interview. SPAWN OF THE LIVING DEAD is their movie & it's set for 2026. I got an early scoop!
Q3: Let’s cheer things up a bit! What’s your favourite part of #FirstDraftFall so far? #WeeknightWriters
December 5, 2025 at 3:58 AM
#WeeknightWriters A2: I was struggling with finding the energy and desire to write. I did finish my NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD interview which was my #FirstDraftFall manuscript so there's that. I want to write more fiction in 2026.
Q2: Are you struggling with anything specific in your #FirstDraftFall project? Tell us about it and we’ll see how we can help! #WeeknightWriters
December 5, 2025 at 3:56 AM
#WeeknightWriters A1: Sorry I'm late, but I just had trigger finger injections and I needed some sleep.

I finished a major project & submitted a short horror story to a charity anthology dedicated to the founder of #HorrorWritersChat who had recently died. I was enough but I could have done more.
Q1: How are you feeling about your #FirstDraftFall progress so far? Excited? Disheartened? #WeeknightWriters

I was clearing out some old books when I found my paranormal books, including all my ghost legends books. So cool! I'm going on a reading binge now. I've had some of these books since childhood. Here are a few of them.

Splatterpunk founder John Skipp has new commentary out about the segment THIS MEANS WAR from the anthology film TALES OF HALLOWEEN. I interviewed him for The Horror Zine and The Horror Tree. Check out the commentary!

Sorry I petered out there #HorrorWritersChat. I was so exhausted I had to go lie down. I'm back albeit late.

I like baking because it gets me away from the computer and I enjoy it. I bake all kinds of decadent, sinful treats which everyone likes. That gives me great joy.
#HorrorWritersChat Q4
Now to The Horrors.

In his blog post
CREATING PERSONAL MEANING IN A DARK WORLD IS HOW WE TAKE A STAND,
Matt said “finding joy in being a creative person is an act of rebellion.”

Share a creative outlet that brings you joy and/or feels like an act of rebellion.

I had a nightmare of a clowder of cats standing upright on a hill - all in a line, staring straight ahead; motionless and silent. Scared the hell out of me. They ended up in a short story.

My dream for 2026 is to see one of my short stories published in a pro publication.
#HorrorWritersChat Q3

This one is going to be hard.

One of the last things Matt asked us at Horror Writers Chat was to share a horror writing related dream.

This can be;
> an actual dream that inspired you.
> a dream you have for your writing career.

Interpret this any way you’d like.

#HorrorWritersChat

It's means several things - one, a fun roller coaster ride. It's all about experiencing negative emotions like fear in a safe environment. Two, it's cathartic. I release a lot of personal demons with horror by watching, reading & writing it. Third, I just plain like the thrill!
#HorrorWritersChat Q2
This is one of Matt’s favourite questions to ask us:

What does horror mean to you?

#HorrorWritersChat

I'm Trish Wilson, Media Director for The Horror Zine. I write quiet horror and horror comedy. I didn't know Matt well since I haven't been here that long. That said, he always made me feel welcome. This chat is one of my BlueSky highlights.
#HorrorWritersChat Q1
Thanks for attending our gathering today.

First, introduce yourself & share the horror subgenres you write.

Then, please share a happy memory you have of Matt OR a happy memory of being part of this community he started.

If the feelings are too raw right now, post a candle 🕯️

One of splatterpunk's founders has new commentary out for a movie segment he had co-written. John Skipp co-wrote THIS MEANS WAR with co-writer/director editor Andrew Kasch. It's part of the horror anthology film TALES OF HALLOWEEN. Check out his commentary here:

#WriteStuff A6: Remote control TVs were new when I was a kid. My charm bracelet was the same frequency as the remote. The family was watching football when I noticed my bracelet turned off the TV if I shook it. I'd wait until a big play was going on and I'd shake my bracelet. I was a brat! LOL
#WriteStuff Q6: Let’s use those holidays to our advantage. What’s one wacky holiday moment from your past that would make a killer scene in your WIP or a knockout flash “fiction”?

#WriteStuff A5: I'm taking time off until New Years Day. In 2026, I plan to interview more famous horror authors. I also want to try to get at least one short horror story accepted by a pro publisher. I don't have a novel in me yet. I hope to write one next year.
#WriteStuff Q5: Do you have goals you’re trying to hit by the end of the year? Why? There’s no rules that everything has to be finished by December 31. What’s one thing you can roll over to 2026?

#WriteStuff A4: Get out of the house. Check out all the holiday goings on in your area. Where I live, you can take pictures with Krampus at a local Wiccan store. Santa and Mrs. Claus show up in two weeks. I live on the Massachusetts coast. Santa arrives here Saturday - on a lobster boat! It's fun!

#WriteStuff A3: I'd say don't push it if you don't feel up to it. That will only make you miserable. Maybe write down ideas or do research that pertains to your story if you don't feel like writing one. I write horror. Seasonal family gatherings are enough to give me horror story ideas. LOL
#WriteStuff Q3: Let’s face it. The seasons are overwhelming. Do you have any suggestions for others how to make time for writing in the chaos leading up to the end of the year?

#WriteStuff A2: I write in the early afternoon, so lack of sunlight doesn't bother me. However, I do get Seasonal Affective Disorder over winter, mainly in January and February. Hoping I don't go through that next year. SAD can make me ... sad.
#WriteStuff Q2: Besides all the seasonal plans (if you even have plans), there’s the actual season. How hard is it to write when the sun rises later and goes down earlier every day? Does the limited daylight affect your writing routine?

#WriteStuff A1: I want to write, sort of. At the moment I'm in between projects. I just finished a big interview, and I'm waiting on word for a short story. It's a good time for a break. I'm going to enjoy the holidays, and write if I feel up to it. Otherwise, back to the grind in January.
#WriteStuff Q1: Even if you are super organized, or have dramatically pared down your holiday plans, it’s still a tough time – logistically and emotionally – to write. Does your mind or your muse want to write right now?
