Here's a megathread of the Kestrel and Scar stories, which will be updated as and when.

Follow the wandering rogues as they roam the Indies in search of adventure and fortune.

I like to go for the pulpy style. In the past, I've made my own covers using Canva.

Howard Pyle's illustrations are one of my favourite "go-tos" for pirate art (public domain). I'll often find one of those that looks good.

Finished another playthrough of Uncharted 4.

...I think I need to get back to the planning for "Escape from Crab Island".

Even though I'm not trans, I have a lot of friends who are.

I've written to my MP already, and sharing this so others can do the same.
clacksee.bsky.social
@transactualuk.bsky.social have released a tool you can use to ask your MP to tell government to scrap the bathroom ban and demand any new Code of Practice ensures providers can lawfully include trans people in their services.

It's time to turn the pressure up.

#PlotTober - a WIP plotting game by @gunsmile.bsky.social

14. Now that you have some ideas of your story's beginning and the main character's goals & growth, can you come up with a few different story endings that would be satisfying for a reader?

Kestrel talks about seducing a mermaid.

Scar: "I hope he didn't go near the stash of fish..."

The two types of writers:

- I have created a cast of multilayered characters, and a deep, rich and storied setting. I have no idea what to do with any of it.

- I have created a weaving narrative of twists and turns, betrayals and intrigue. Each character can be summarised in one word.

#AwesomeCharacters

Erm...I think Kestrel would be getting drunk and telling wild tales of his adventures. And Scar would be debunking them.

Honestly, I'd to think what anyone in the 17th Century would be posting about...

For the sake of this hypothetical, your characters have social media in their world.

Do they use it? What kind of things are they posting about? Pictures, video, or text? What do they have as a profile pic?

Not all the games were weekly though.

I typically run one in-person game for a local university society, and an online one which is open to other players.

Honestly, I had trouble finding players before I went to uni.

Olives (hate the texture)

The Matrix Revolutions (drivel)

In the Bleak Midwinter (school trauma)

I know what you mean. I don't GM more than two games at once (otherwise I'd burn out), but I may be a player in more.

Currently in three campaigns (two as a GM, one as a player). I've been in as many as five.

#PlotTober My opening chapter involves Kestrel sparring with the Albatross quartermaster Gabriel Delgado, resorting to trickery to gain the upper hand (to the amusement of Captain Bristol).

The story involves them getting shipwrecked on a private island and searching for an escape route.

#PlotTober Well, the most obvious antagonist is Sir Beckford Drax, who owns the sugar plantation on Crab Island.

But Captain Bristol also becomes an antagonist as his violence becomes increasingly indiscriminate.

#AwesomeCharacters Kestrel and Scar are contrasts in that regard.

Kestrel's spontaneous and tends to improvise. Scar prefers to have a plan (and will often shake his head in disapproval until Kestrel comes up with one).

I'm mostly a pantser, but when I was ghostwriting I would outline. On Upwork, I was specifically asked to provide a chapter breakdown (which I got paid for). I carried that over to Fiverr, but made it a complimentary service (charged a higher rate).

Okay #WritingCommunity

Planners and Pantsers. Have you ever tried the opposite approach? Planners, have you ever just writtem with no plan? What happened. Pantsers, have you ever tried outlining? What happened?

Was there anything you kept from this experiment.

I switched from pantser to planner.
