What do you mean, „echo chamber“? I, for one, found Paddington 2 underwhelming.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

my favorite thing about the benoit blanc movies is that they aren't really about benoit blanc. he is not grappling with demons from his past. we are not getting flashbacks to the husband whose murder he never solved. he just shows up and does his job like mary poppins for homicides

I think it’s become clear to me that what I love most about Rian Johnson‘s movies is their moral core. The celebration of love and decency that‘s at the center of so many of them (guess who was my favourite in TLJ). Needless to say, Wake Up Dead Man is my jam.

NEW: Five years of social media history is only a fraction of what the US Government will shortly demand of overseas visitors.

The full requirements will end tourism in the United States.

Below is the full, mind-blowing list.

RESULTS: Democrat Tim Keller has won reelection as mayor of Albuquerque.

He defeats a former Republican sheriff, who took issue with Keller's executive order that limited collaboration with ICE.

And that's not all: Liberal faction seizes majority a city council.

Manchester by the Sea. It was excellent but I don’t have to go through that emotionally again.
Never mind movies you’ve watched multiple times, name a movie you’ve watched once and would never watch again.

Watched Eternity today because Afterlife Shenanigans is one of my favourite genres. I have to say, though, the rules of this particular afterlife were baffling.

Currently watching ER for the first time and really enjoying the game of spot the future star. Taraji P Henson just appeared as 2 different characters in the span of a few episodes.

The standard question I now get as a translator is „But can’t AI do your job now?“Then they tell me how well it works for them when they have to send an email in a different language. Most people don’t understand how badly AI translates cause they don’t see the difference between bad and good writing
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Still recovering from Train Dreams. A quietly devastating film about the insignificance and significance of a life. Probably my second favourite film of the year.

The Covid enquiry has concluded that the reality we all witnessed *was* the actual reality, and the version which Johnson, Cummings et al insisted was happening was a total fabrication.

It’s incredible that we have to have lengthy enquiries after the event to establish consensus reality now.
