This isn’t staged for aesthetics, this is just ADHD. 😂
Okay so it turns out that buying a secondhand, industrial-kitchen-sized pot lets me boil a ton of vegetables but then the rest of my kitchen doesn’t have the supplies to store and puree it all into soup, so this took FIVE HOURS. 🫠

I can never guess what Pexels will choose to spotlight (little star in the upper left corner), and I think that says a lot about how subjective art is.

They’re all free for download and personal or commercial use.

7. ‘biological male’ or ‘biological female’ are malicious rhetorical constructs that falsely assert that LGBTQ—notably trans—people are an ideological movement rather than an intrinsic identity,” GLAAD’s Guide to Anti-LGBTQ Online Hate and Disinformation explains.

A coworker (not the sick one) gave me some little bell peppers from her husband’s 畑 (kitchen garden) and they’re half the size of grocery store ones but Y’ALL the flavor is incredible.

Usually I’m not a fan of strong bell pepper flavor (I add them for vitamin C) but these are GOOD.

Well, never mind.

Coworker didn’t get tested for the flu but came to work still feeling sick anyway, breaking standard flu quarantine protocol, and has been sent home.

This is not someone new to Japan who’d have no idea how finicky workplaces here are about procedure.

I’m just flabbergasted.
I am genuinely SHOCKED that my coworker actually asked me for an extra mask, unprompted.

I handed over one of the N95s I stopped using because I don’t like the fit.

“It’s like a respirator.”

…It IS a respirator.
Coworker who was out sick with the flu yesterday is back at work today unmasked.

I’m going to have a really bad day today from stress alone.

Everyone knows data centers use a ton of water.

What hardly anyone knows: they can poison the water that remains.

And in eastern Oregon, Amazon is doing exactly that.

I wish I’d known about the Manabi Reader app a while ago because the way I learned English was hearing nonsense spoken around me and then decoding it with books.

I can’t study things in a vacuum of grammar rules and vocabulary, I require context.

You don’t actually have to buy anything when you go to clothing stores. They’ll let you try on a bunch of clothes, buy nothing, and leave. You can just go play dress-up for an hour to try out colors and styles. They won’t stop you.

So it turns out that making an appointment to get my flu shot is the most effective way to make sure I get it because I’ve known for a week that the clinic down the street accepts walk-ins for vaccinations and yet I HAVE NOT GONE.

Gonna make an appointment for myself in my planner. 🫠

It’s cute how Apple thinks I’m ever going to update my phone again after this Liquid Glass debacle.

Or that I’m actually going to stick with iPhone at all.

I feel like the last couple decades of "is representation good or not?" discourse missed more important questions of "how fragile is representation?", "what do we do when multiple industries eliminate it as an intentional move against us?" and "how can we sustain queer artists when shit goes south?"
"According to the report, [...]during the 2024-25 television season, queer characters increased across platforms by 4%, bringing the total to 489. However, the Thursday report found that 41% of those characters will not return." www.thewrap.com/glaad-where-...

Learning to do things like knit, hand sew, and make so much of my food from scratch feels like unlearning the learned helplessness that capitalism and consumerism reinforces.

I’ve started looking at stuff and thinking, “I could fix that. It won’t be perfect, but it it’ll work.”

It's a shame to see xenophobia and scapegoating on the rise just about everywhere, but these are great moments to build stronger communities, especially in-person. Online spaces are infested w/ cowards who try to incite hatred. To whatever extent, ignore, block, their opinions are worthless anyway.
