Oh, and:
* 100g of pork liver, boiled & pureed

All the fat and oil from the meat makes the soup ridiculously creamy. It tastes like I added a mountain of butter.

This week’s soup is:
* 3 giant heads of broccoli
* 3 bags of mustard spinach
* 1 yellow bell pepper (expensive af)
* 2 bags of “ugly” carrots
* 4 heads of bok choy
* 2 chicken thighs
* boiled & pureed chicken skin
* boiled & pureed beef scraps
* all the water from cooking the veg & meat

The trade off is that I will not have to cook AT ALL for the week. This is lunch and dinner every day, in between fruit and homemade yogurt.

I keep waiting for myself to get bored but it’s SO GOOD. I also make it plain so I can add salt or ginger if I want.

(I’m dead serious that everyone being sick feels like it’s become a new social bonding experience to the point where people act like you’re snubbing them by NOT exposing yourself to germs constantly and joining in the conversations about “allergies” and “summer flu.” )

Yeah that is one heck of a coincidence that just happened randomly. 🙄 God forbid a person not take part in the social bonding experience of being debilitatingly sick all the time with everyone else.

100% this.

I forgot my pepper plants outside so they’re mad but still growing healthy bell peppers.

I dried the seeds from grocery store peppers, sprouted them in plastic bags, & planted them in ¥100 trash bins I drilled holes in.

If I get just two edible peppers, they’ll have paid for themselves.

Wtf. That’s wildly negligent. Major “there is no war in Ba Sing Se” vibes; if we don’t acknowledge the germs, they can’t permanently disable or kill us. I’m so sorry you’re stuck in the middle of that.
November 26, 2025 at 11:41 AM
OH GOD. 😣 That’s horrifying. Are they making people come back to work sick or just ignoring when people do it?

I’m just reminded of that study where autistic people consistently chose the “selfless” option in a test whether in company or alone, while NTs changed behaviors based on who else was there.

My coworker didn’t mask until PEOPLE HE KNEW were there.

It’s just astounding that people can see ME doing all the COVID-conscious stuff to protect myself and others but just deciding not to worry about it.

Suddenly it’s “Hey Colin do you have any masks?”

Obviously I do bc I’ve been sitting next to you in an N95 for 2 years.

Can’t stress enough that 70+ students were out sick with confirmed flu cases last week and 1/3 of the homeroom classes sent home for most of the week to keep it from spreading.

So why was my coworker coming to work FEELING SICK without notifying anyone about it or even getting tested for the flu.
November 26, 2025 at 2:59 AM
Well, never mind.

Coworker didn’t get tested for the flu but came to work still feeling sick anyway, breaking standard flu quarantine protocol, and has been sent home.

This is not someone new to Japan who’d have no idea how finicky workplaces here are about procedure.

I’m just flabbergasted.
