So much talk along the lines "on Bluesky we do this, but we don't do that". I think everyone is free to do their thing, so I wanted to share how I use this app.
Took part in a school reading event tonight and afterwards a kid came up wanted me to guess what he does for fun. "I write my own books" he said, eyes glimmering with pride.

by the way, teen librarians are *amazing*. nothing but the deepest respect. so much hard and unremitting work goes into making a successful teen space in a public library. 📚
maybe this is a bit “fellow kids,” or maybe this language was drafted with teenagers’ input—which would be awesome. but it illustrates something i’ve been thinking about lately: a library code of conduct should enlist patrons as partners in making the space as universally welcoming as possible. 📚

So a while back I was commissioned to do short bios of various rock stars, and they were just about universally total psychopaths, with the huge exception of Freddie Mercury. A lovely man who did good by his wife, his lovers, and his cats.
Today (24 November) marks the passing of Freddie Mercury, lead vocalist and pianist of the rock band Queen. He remains regarded as one of the greatest singers in the history of rock music.

I usually avoid talking about this but as a Swede living abroad, I’m shocked and appalled by the lack of empathy and outright cruelty that seems to dictate policies and government in Sweden right now. It’s upsetting to see.
