“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.”

—James Baldwin (1924–1988)
I'm not too fussed about it. My retirement plan is die at my desk.
They gotta make up for not taxing the wealthy somehow . . .
ADHD HYPERFOCUS ACTIVATE! FORM OF "What do you mean it's already time for dinner? I just finished my first cup of coffee!"
My boss doesn't care about *how* I work, just that I stay reasonably accessible during business hours and meet or exceed my due dates and quality goals (which I do on all counts).
Same. I've been working remote fulltime for over a decade, and though I look like a feral college dude half the time, my performance and efficiency is better than when I was in an office. When work is light, I do housework, laundry, bathe Max, etc. When work is heavy, I'm locked in for the duration.
In ANY economy that shit's too expensive to give away. We don't even share with friends anymore. Like the Garbage Pail Kids cards of yore, if you want one of mine, you better trade me one of yours for it—and it has to be something I want, not another freakin' LEAKY LOU.

Thanatotheristes is a late Cretaceous tyrannosaur whose name means 'Reaper of death.' I couldn't help this image of it in Grim Reaper guise popping into my head.

I should’ve learned this by now but DO NOT use FedEx. The diseased monkeys I ordered haven’t arrived and I can’t get a straight answer on what happened to them
Oop, and there's the opening pitch of the evening's world series posts.
We had those roost in our rental's palm trees⬇️ in California every summer night. Their hooting was both hauntingly spooky and hilariously goofy.
I actually quite like this one, too. I took these (and two others that DID NOT come out good) at random the other day. It was windy and I was having hell lining up the shot. This pic⬇️ was right before I grabbed the stalk to hold it still (the first pic up there ⬆️, right after which the 🦋 flew away).
Post something random or you’ll have an awful November.

There’s no sense in tempting the universe.

This is an unsettlingly potent metaphor at the moment.
Capitalism is cannibalism.
Forty million people are poised to lose food access. Nearly three quarters of a million federal workers are furloughed. Corporations are laying off tens of thousands at a time. We face the worst unemployment crisis since the pandemic. Farmers are broke.

Today the stock market reached a record high.
Our Xander certainly was a tackler and a cuddler.
Awww! Also, ew, don't hug me I don't know you.

Frankly, I'm rooting for the carrier monkey at this point. We had a good run and have well overstayed our welcome as a species.
What's it like inside your head?
