rhiannon: the people on this website have been remarkably normal about how insane I am, especially recently. so thanks for that.

I think its also really good that despite being openly fourteen people on here none of the mutuals i know offline have brought it up. that's neat too, keep it up :D

them privately or if we refuse to take him to the gender clinic for "safe withdrawal" of meds. The head of the investigation admits the outcome for these children is "stark" but is going to do it anyway. They know that children are going to die and they are doing it anyway.

My son is caught up in this. They are forcibly detransitioning children who started blockers before the ban. No GP in the UK is allowed to continue prescribing for any under 16 year olds. We are being threatened with social services if we get...

Yeah it's because the common approach to queer politics these days is turning one's interpersonal beefs with specific groups into political theory, instead of like... observing the actual state of the world and our place in it.

I keep seeing supposedly progressive podcasts saying “the problem is that people feel like they just can’t talk about these issues” while these issues are frequently the *only* thing that people are talking about 😩
Am struggling with the idea that people like me somehow don't understand the legitimate concerns of people who attended the Tommy Robinson march. I literally had National Front fliers through my letterbox in my childhood in Greater London and I went to school and university with actual fascists.

It was the whiteness of the whale that above all things appalled me.

I had a painter come into my flat to look at some walls my landlord wanted doing up and within five minutes he was explaining to me how he’s not a bad guy but he’s going Reform because lawyers care more about human rights for illegal immigrants than people like him. In my own home.

on the internet you can say something true like 'it is healthy to go outside and make friends and find community' and the someone will kick off discourse about how this oppresses ppl who live in rural areas or have disabilities that make it difficult as if the latter prevents the former being true.

gwen: its been said many times before but seeing politicians wear poppies as they justify/minimise Israeli war crimes and oppose a ceasefire really hammers home that the poppy is a symbol of militarism & bloodthirst & imperialism.

never forget indeed.

are we allowed to talk about how communism is good again yet or is that still, like, off limits

we also should fight for the return of live music and theatre as an affordable form of entertainment for the masses. opera should not be gatekept.
imogen: what the fuck do you mean it favours those in power lol. did communism favour the Romanovs? did Batista benefit from communism? what about French occupiers in Vietnam? landlords in China?
gwen: ppl have no idea what its like to be a woman on the internet istg.
gwen: there's a good GoingMedieval article on the subject and its links to the weird ways various reactionary thinkers have conceptualised sex throughout history
gwen: think I finally got this song just about right? still lots of imperfections, but its getting there and there's nothing that sounds vile

Saw a news report yesterday about children as young as 9 being given weight loss jabs on the NHS, and I think it shows just how utterly bullshit the “lack of research into long term impacts” excuse for banning puberty blockers for trans kids really was. It’s purely ideological.
