Most discussions about “misinformation” treat the problem as if people simply don’t have good enough critical-thinking skills. It sounds intuitive, but it’s not entirely accurate. The problem isn’t just individual ignorance, it’s the structure of the information environment people are placed into.

The rain is starting here this morning. We are expecting a cat5 atmospheric river to roll thru all week, with inches of rain in the forecast.

I'm planning a lot of baking and a lot of reading (and I should also be doing a lot of packing for the move, but we'll see how that goes 😅).

COVID provided a lot of real-time evidence of which people would sacrifice for the greater good, innovate, keep up morale and emotionally endure devastating loss...and which would sell out their grandma if it meant they could go back to Applebee's.
The guys who rioted during covid lockdowns because they couldn't get a harcut or harass food servers are going to fold on day 2 of the civil war, if they manage to survive that long

Oldest went to the local Nutcracker tonight with their date. This very PNW (specifically the Olympic Peninsula) version featured salmon, a lavender fairy, and Dungeness crabs. I love it.

Huh. In the past, I'd probably have said my ex. But now? I'm pretty indifferent to them. That feels weird to realize, because they're actually quite awful.
That’s a new dinner party conversation: Who is someone that you hate so much that, if given the time, energy, and crew, you’d produce a 4-part documentary on them?

The 2 survivors climbed atop wreckage and waved to overhead.

Something to remember in all this reporting that USSOUTHCOM’s CDR resigned and a USSOUTHCOM JAG raised concerns and was overruled.

The SOCOM commander ordered the strike and SOCOM JAG supported him in the strikes.

There is no reconciling this. No way to make this okay. And right now, I'm thinking of the junior sailors whose job it is to fire the weapons involved in these strikes. We have failed them as a country.
