Audre Lorde writes,there is

"A grave responsibility, projected from within each of us, not to settle for the convenient, the shoddy, the conventionally expected, nor the merely safe."

all that
and
we dance
Celebrate the solstice the old fashioned way.
Gather moss from forgotten tombs, wear a garland of ancient goblin bones to ward off fairy mischief, and enter into a drinking contest with the old gods of the wood.

I’ll be thinking about the last two paragraphs of this article. Has the American pressure on Venezuela for regime change been peaceful?

In his book Man’s Search for Meaning (1946), Frankl wrote of his wartime experiences: ‘Woe to him who saw no more sense in his life, no aim, no purpose, and therefore no point in carrying on. He was soon lost.’

Attacks on feminism are similar to attacks on vaccines. We begin to take for granted a world where women have rights and most children live to see adulthood, and then, over time, we begin to forget, neglect, and (now) reject the movements and innovations that brought us here.
Until the mid-1970’s, a man could not be convicted of rape in New York State based solely on the testimony of the woman he raped. A second witness was required because the female rape victim was deemed unreliable.

Feminism has not failed women.

…”What has come with Trump, I’ve never experienced anything like it,” said one aid worker who has been in Kakuma for decades. “It’s huge and brutal and traumatizing.”…

“Brutal and traumatizing”: Interviews and a trove of internal documents show government officials and aid workers desperately tried to warn Trump advisers about impending disaster and death.

It all matters, yes, but this matters more than Susie Wiles, matters more, even, than the travel ban; more than all of Trump’s wars actual & looming (Venezuela, Ukraine, Somalia, Gaza) combined. It’s like the Cuban Missile Crisis, only U.S. is aiming it missiles at everyone, starting with itself.

I think a big part of it -- theatrically embracing obvious falsehoods -- is mocking liberals, mocking people who value principles (like honesty) above factional advantage. They do it because it pains us, because we care.
What's striking about Trump's lies, and those of his apologists, is that they're not even plausible. They don't try to be plausible. As others have noted, that's kind of the point. True authoritarian control and power is telling a blatant and obvious lie, and showing you can get away with it.

More trump context.

the uncertainty, the tension, and the chase for the truth of trump? i will be happy when the last chapter is written in his political era. i may have to get comfortable with not understanding it much like Greg and v.

Narcissistic president forms the dem 26 campaign. A collective groan emitted from republicans up for election in 26.
Q: At the end of this year, those extended Obamacare subsidies expire. What's your message to those 24m Americans who will see their premiums go up?

TRUMP: Don't make it sound so bad. Obviously you're a sycophant for Democrats. You're obviously a provider of bad news for Republicans.
